Whats a better Film School ? Orange Coast College or Los Angeles City College?

I cant afford to go to USC or UCLA because I'm an international student... so tuition for me really expensive so i gotta stick with community colleges, but im confused between chossing Orange Coast College or Los Angeles City College, I just want to know wish one has the better film program.

The only thing that is keeping from going to OCC its that its in Orange County, while LACC is in LA... wish must be a big difference in the film industry correct ? even if they are only 1 hour away. All the actions happens in LA... and people usually say, its not what you know... its who you know, but im really concerned in getting the best education.

Please, any advise would be appreciated

It really doesn't matter where you go, it's all about what you take from it. I used my film school like a cheap hooker. I used their equipment all the time, made connections, and learned tons of stuff that I didn't know before I got there. It was an invaluable experience. But, it was because of my own effort. I know some people who walked away with literally nothing and no education.

Things to look for when choosing a film school:
Obviously curriculum.
Gear
Access to the gear
Teachers (reputation/experience)
Location
Class sizes
Course length
and most importantly, cost.

Have you considered calling the colleges and seeing what they offer?

Connections and percentage with jobs afterwards are good indicators too. I know of a school on the east coast which i will not name, they have a film program where only 3 students got jobs after school... Yeah be sure to watch out for crap like that.

I mean they both sound great, OCC is a bigger school with more people and I heard the equipment is pretty good, but LACC is right in Hollywood and also has grea teachers.

My question is, why did you post this in the User Films section?

This would be my primary reason for choosing OCC. That, and I often used their film facilities when I was a communications student at FCC. OCC has invested heavily in their communications and liberal arts programs in recent years.

They are cutting-edge when it comes to gear and have invested in a studio-style backlot at their campus. *EDIT* It is Chapman University (just down the road) that has the backlot at their Dodge Film facility. *EDIT*

I haven't seen their post facilities in years, but would expect that they've fully transitioned to Avid and FCPHD suites since I was last there.

Hey Guys, I'm a newbie.

I recovered this old post because I'm more or less in the same situation.
I'm Italian and I'm looking for a course or certificate in Los Angeles which includes film and tv training. I'm currently completing my bachelor degree here in Italy about video/audio production, but it's a bit too theoretical and I would like to do some more hands-on training in the US.

As an international student I can't really afford the university fees, so I have to choose a community college or a private short course.

At the time of the discussion everyone preferred the OCC, but it's a bit far away from LA, LACC instead is right in Hollywood, and the LACC courses look better to me on paper.

Any news about that?
What do you think about LACC? Anyone went there?
Do you know other good 6 month/1 year courses around 5000/6000$?

Thanks

PS: I'm sorry about the language, be patient I need to improve it.
