Guys,
This has been covered before but not with as much technical detail as dumb hillbillies in disguise (that makes no sense!) like myself need.
I'm using vegas as an on camera LCD monitor with my tiny 12" rotating screen laptop. When I use Firewire I'm Not getting much lag at all. I've turned everything else off and adjusted my start-up items down to a bare minimum.
I'm not using this for capture, just for monitoring.
I'm hoping to figure out a way to scale the 720x480 capture window so that it exactly matches that portion of the pixels on my laptop's display in order to maximize sharpness. I think this is referred to as 1:1 pixel mapping. Is the capture window already at a true 720x480 pixels when set to 100%?
Is there a way to scale the video preview window while your in capture mode to sizes other than 50% and 100%. Custom sizes? Can you do it in Vegas 8?
I'm A LOT happier with the picture on the laptop than with my Delvcam. That thing makes me want to shoot myself in the face every time I look at it! I'm selling it BTW, now that I've given it such a glowing review.

Oh! And check out this cool monitor hood solution that I came up with. Sets up quick and even keeps the camera (and camera operator) protected from the elements. One Caveat: You need A LOT of velcro!
