Hi everyone,
I'm currently looking for a MAC editing bay set-up. So, far I know that I'm going to edit SD and HD. I would like to know which would be a good set-up for an editing bay? I would be doing animation as well, AE mainly, Photoshop, illustrator and pro tools. I would also need a broadcast monitor, a DV/HDV deck, external DVD authoring? (I can probably use the internal here). Is there an internal p2 card slot in one of the G5?
Would appreciate all your help!

Any of the quad core or dual quad core MacPros will work.
G5s are no longer sold by Apple. None contained a p2 card slot, although some here claim that some PCI readers will work.
Buy third party RAM and fast internal SATA drives from a good vendor.
Why a DV/HDV deck?
What is an external DVD authoring?

I need a dv/hdv deck for capturing data from dv tapes and hdv. Printing into beta cam tapes, printing into Dv tapes too..What is an external DVD authoring?-- An external DVD burner. What do you guys usually use for burning professional standard DVDs?
What is a third party RAM and a fast internal SATA drives? How about the iMACs? you think their good for editing?

iMacs aren't expandable and have one firewire bus. I don't recommend them.
Don't buy bundled RAM from Apple. Buy from crucial or macsales.com.
Are you asking what an internal SATA drive is?
And all MacPros come with SuperDrive DVD burners installed.

What do you mean by not buying a bundled RAM? all of their units come installed with RAM already right? Do you mean buy additional RAMS from crucial or macsales? is 2gig RAM good enough for post or 4gig?
What do you suggest for broadcast monitors? should I buy the MACs?
