P2 HVX mind of it own- wont turn off records on own

My HVX seems to want to go straight into record when I turn it on (with P2 cards in). Once its on I cant turn it off. At first I though it was a low battery related thing because when I put a fully charged battery on it, the problem seemed to go away. Now the problem is back with a full battery.
Is this a problem of my having some switch set some place that makes it do this? I cant think on any.

Thanks Barry. I used to have some equipment that had a preset wheres if power came on it would go straight to record. It was a setting one had to intentionally invoke and then a wall timer could turn your equipment on and off for you. Sort of the cheapy old days resolution to not having battery backed-up timers. This gear then doesn't have anything like that.

Anyways into service she goes ...
