How to copy files from P2 to OSX

I have shot a few short clips on a P2 card in DV format. I can play them back on the P2 card, but as I follow the manual's directions, I get stuck when I put the camera into PC Mode. The screen on the LCD says:

COPY TO HDD
FORMAT (HDD)
PROPERTY
SETUP

SETUP is selected and everything else is grayed in and I can't select them. When I select SETUP I see this:

SETUP > VERIFY > ON
OFF

ON is selected, but no matter what I do, I can't get out of this mode except through shutting off the camera, so I can't copy the files to my OSX hard drive.

Am I missing a step? I'm reading from page 85-86 of the HVX manual.

Configure the camera for IEEE 1394 mode, not IEEE HOST. Install the P2 drivers on your Mac. Connect the camera to your computer using a Firewire cable. When you put the camera into MCR mode and then press and hold the MODE button for another two seconds, the camera's P2 slots should appear as removeable drives on your desktop.
