View Full Version : Having problem with vfr (720/24pn) in final cut
Hi, I just bought a hvx200 and made some tests shooting in 720/24pn. When I drag the clips in the timeline (final cut pro 5.1.4), the clips shot at a variable frame rate need rendering (not the ones shot at normal speed). Is it normal? Thanks for answering.

The basic rule is that rendering is required if the sequence settings do not match the settings established in the cam.
If you shot 720/24pN, then the easy set up for DVCProHD at 720/24p should be used.
Thanks for your response David. I did set up for DVCProHD at 720/24p. I think I wasn't clear. The recording set up I used is 720/24pn. i used the film cam option and shot some footage at 24 and some other at 60fps. When I drag the clips in my FCP timeline, the footage shot at 24 don't need rendering but the ones shot at 60 (the recording set up was also 24pn for these too) do need rendering. Is it normal? This question may seem stupid but I'm just a beginner. Thanks.

When you shot the ones at 720/24pN at 60 fps, did you have the "remove pulldown" check in the log and transfer window?
I don't see any "remove pulldown" box I can check in the log and capture window. The only place I can see is in the Capture/Input menu: DV NTSC 48Khz advance (2:3:3:2) pulldown removal. Is it what you mean?

You are on 5.1.4?
Isn't the menu command "import p2 volume?"
Thanks David, I wasn't exporting using the import p2 device but log and capture. Everything works fine.
