Anyone running a Q6600 or the like? How does it handle Vegas? I often have multiple Vegas sessions open and rendering and have been hitting 100% CPU alot.

Also, how much ram you guys using? I am using DDR2-800 @ 3GB in XP Pro (32-bit)....

You should Always max your RAM out, it's very important and it doesnt cost awhole lot. You can get 4gb ram in form of 2x2gb (that work togheter well) for 100bucks and USA is usually cheaper so. Go for that first of all.

You should get a Intel Quad 2.4 / 2.6 imo, it is the bomb.
It isnt to expensive either imo, and it kind of doubles your performance.

Q9450. Runs like butter. 1080p full-screen real-time, no sweat.

4GB DDR3-1333MHz. (Of course, the system only recognizes 3.5 GB.)

yea I have 4GB of RAM, but windows only sees 3GB. I have the /3gb switch in .ini

how do you get 3.5?

Dunno. It just sees it. Under "My Computer," it says 3.25 GB, but monitor programs like ASUS PC Probe II see more than 3.5 GB.

PAE is included in the chipset of the mobo; I'd suspect it is so for most, if not all, mobos which support Quad-core processors. But definitely for those with Intel chipsets.

I also have 4-gigs, and it shows 3.5. You need to turn off all of the features in the bios you're not using (built-in VGA, serial ports, printer ports, etc.) This frees up memory for the OS.

Oh I didnt see you wanted to operate 32bit..
Well in that case I guess what I said about the RAM doesn't apply for you
as you can't have more than 3-4 depending on settings.

Im so used to helping XP users, and recommending them to use XP 64bit, which is far superior to vista 64bit.

But XP doesn't have DirectX 10, like Vista does. For gamers, Vista is better.
