Square Box

I'm hoping someone can tell me what's going on. I have Vegas 8 on XP pro and I can't use the black and white filter. It just does nothing. As if that weren't bad enough, when I do anything to change the color or luminosity of my clips, a square box in the upper left hand corner remains unaffected. What the heck is going on?

You probably have the little box above the preview window, which looks like a circle inside a square, clicked. Unclick it.

Called support this morning and you're right. Boy do I feel dumb!! I really gotta read the damn book...someday...
