Just got an email from ProMedia in Memphis that lists the AG-HMC150 at $3995.00.

I think that is confirmed.

anybody want to weigh in?

Interesting -- is that $3995 MSRP? If so, that puts street at around $3500, which seems like exactly the right place!

ProMedia's an authorized dealer, yes? I can't imagine that an authorized dealer would make up their own price and send it out without some approval, but... still haven't heard anything from Panasonic directly on this, and the 150's not on the Panasonic USA website yet so as far as I know there's no official MSRP released...

Yep.

It's authorized.

I've had it confirmed officially by Panasonic USA that yes, the MSRP is $3995.

Did ya happen to get a confirmed MSRP for the 170?

I won't tell anyone.

That's what B&H has it listed for.

David Saraceno

So does SC.

But I don't think anyone has confirmed it a MSRP at all.

Jason Ramsey

yeah. Haven't heard it confirmed, but pretty good sign that multiple authorized dealers are showing the same *apparent* MSRP.

AValive, I like the site! I may have to buy through you. Has anyone else bought through you? Are you an authorized reseller?

AValive

Yes we are an authorized reseller. We also happen to be in the same town as Barry Green and David J

Is there a comparison on the AG-HMC150 vs the HPX170 yet. I know Barry is cooking up something.

We're a month out.

Wonder if the feature set has been frozen.

Should be interesting.

I too would like to read a good comparison from Barry about the HMC150 vs. HPX170 to see how they stack up.

David Saraceno

On what issues?

They are such different cams.

AVCHD limited to 24 mbps versus DVCProHD at 100 mbps.

Transcoding required. No native modes.

p2 versus SD cards.

What issues are you specifically looking at?

Well, that sorta stuff for starters. I just always appreciate Barry's analysis - both the breakdown of the spec sheet and the actual image quality/results of his testing and his impressions. I find it more helpful than just reading the specs.

No native modes.

Ah... doesnt it shoot 720 24pn and 1080 24pn? or were you referring to codec?

Barry_Green

There is a native 1080/24pN mode in the 150.

I did a big comparison here a few weeks ago (not a thread, but someone asked about buying and what the considerations were)...

Link? Could the average person tell the difference between footage shot with the HPX, HVX or HMC

Wow. I stand corrected.

Why a 1080/24pN and not a 720?

I see the price, and when I click on the "click for better price" is shows the same price.

Is this correct?

Is a p2 card bundled with the HPX170?
