Kyle,
This is going to be great. I love the poster, banner and teaser.marketing campaign. I am really looking forward to this. If you do half as good a job on the film as you do on posters, I can see you easily making the top eight. Best of luck! :)

Hey Nick, thanks man! -- I'm really excited about this project. We've got SUCH a talented group of people involved. Nate Caauwe, a good friend of mine and now roto-artist for Fat Monster Films (and Forensic Arts) is on board and will be given almost complete creative freedom with the tasks at hand. He's going to have a hay day with this project, and I know whatever he produces is high quality work.
On top of all that we've got a very stylistic way that we have devised to shoot this. It's going to be a huge challenge, but if we can pull it off then Dead Week will be one of the MOST FUN films to watch out of this fest.
Lots of comedy going into this one, too.

Thank you kindly, Nick! We'll see what happens as things unfold.
We will be shooting in Lincoln, Nebraska -- Right smack dab in the middle of the midwest. It'd be cool to get Matt G out here from St. Louis but we'll see what happens. He's just a hop skip and a jump away.

I was trying to stretch out my back... and I shouldn't have done it the way that I did... threw a few things out of whack, but I've been going to a chiropractor and I'm definitely starting to feel better. I HAVE to get better. No one's going to hire an actor who's a cripple... :D

Maybe I should see someone about my back. I have just been putting up with it, wearing an Ace back brace every once in a while (which reminds me, hold on...) Okay. I have also adjusted my sleeping habits but it still hurts occasionally.

No, it's not related to back strength at all. My neck is actually my problem. It's from sitting in front of the computer all day, 12 hours a day for the past 8+ years. It takes it's toll on you. I just started going to this chiropractor who seems to be pretty good. I had x-rays done and my neck is, in fact, the culprit. I basically need to drastically change my posture when I'm forced to sit in front of the computer for a long period of time at work.
Trust me, there's nothing I'd rather do than to get into a gym and do some heavy shrugs, deadlifts, and upright rows Dorian Yates style, but I just can't do that right now...

It's not that I am not active enough. I love tennis, bikes, etc. I live in the mountains for God's sake, I HAVE to like sports/activity. My problem is that I slept on my stomach for 15+ years and now I am feeling the results. Also, sitting at desks for long periods, often leaning forward has not helped.

Sounds like you're living your adult years out dealing with the effects of SIDS.
Anyway, lots of exterior locations scouted out today. Also, I've been informed of a couple A-list dvxuser celebrities that may or may not be making their way by the set of Dead Week over the next month or two. It'll probably remain hush hush for now, but stay tuned for more!

Yo Kyle,
We'll be sending Nate back this week. Take good care of him, ok?
I've been trying to figure out what thread to call "home" and am going to provisionally choose this one (joined your FaceBook group too). We'll definitely keep him alive and kicking for all of his friends back on the west coast.
I'm proud to be a member of the Monster team so likewise I'm ready to play host to all the crazy fart jokes, photoshopped images, and strange goings-on that are so typical of the Fat Monster film threads.
That being said, I wouldn't mind bringing you on board as some sort of an FX supervisor since you know Nate well enough now and can talk to him effectively and professionally. - All up to you though, mang.
Made a lot of headway today in the sound department. I spent the better part of the morning recording and testing different sound environments generated with my Yamaha Motif-ES8 workstation keyboard. I have decided to compose my own music for the film, which is a daunting task for anyone trying to juggle school, work, and everything else. I think, though, that this project is going to allow for a LOT of creative freedom in the way of sound and I can't wait to start posting some stuff so you can all critique me, throw tomatoes, and rate my thread with 1 star.
:dankk2: Off to the script!

I tell you what. I'm really worried that this project is going to get me fired from my job. Perhaps that is what exhilarates me most. I've taken several location photos I'm going to upload in the next half hour. Many of them are set in my bank (where I work). The plan is to shoot on Sundays and hope that no one walks in.
And shit... we're going to have zombies, and blood, and everything.

Kyle, I love gorilla style film making. Sometimes it produces the best results. It didn't for me, though. :( For my TimeFest entry (or what I did of it) there was one scene where we trespassed on a property for sale. The neighbors were watching because it was the dune buggy scene and we were a bit loud. I said we had one chance to do it and it came out all shaky and shit. Ah well...
Best of luck to you!

Currently sitting at The Mill coffeehouse in Lincoln, Nebraska on 48th and Prescott.
I'm translating our outline into a script right now but am having a HELLUVA time because they are playing some sort of a talk show over the speakers here as opposed to the indie/alternative music that this place is known for. They're talking about Heath Ledger and his role as The Joker, so yes... it's fascinating stuff, but I think I'm going to have to move to another place if I want to get any work done.

Where are all of those waitresses in Nebraska? I guess it might have something to do with the desire to become an actress.. ours have the desire to support children.. or drug habits.. or drinking problems.. or college education..
but especially the drinking problems.

Perhaps if he had just flaunted his O2 name badge things wouldn't have played out the way they did. - Though I am still going to place the blame on her having already been married. It was a brick wall, and most decent men would stop there. Matt at least pulled out his card and left it at that. ;)
Good stuff. Do keep them coming.
I've placed a couple of links to storyboards in the first post for those interested. A lot more work to be done, and the ball will really start rolling this week.
Went and saw Step Brothers tonight. The reviews were right. I'll leave it at that.
Though I think the best part of the film came before the opening credits even began to run. It was a George W quote:2vrolijk_08:

Well I suppose that without good acting your film is something. Probably an unwatchable piece of crap. Just kidding. Maybe it is a little harsh, but I think it gets my point across: we have a forum for every other aspect of film making, we need one for acting. I will consider rewording it, but not tonight. It is too late for me to think. Thanks for the comment.
Mark, the caption of "WTF??" above the pigeon made me laugh. Wow, I hope this lasts all fest. If Matt moved to LA, I would totally consider helping you write episodes which we could actually shoot. It would be great, I know one of the networks would pick it up. :D

I think that might be a dove. Nevertheless, it is an amazing talent.
That said, I have the same incredible ability.
As demonstrated last Christmas, near the town of Cherokee, NC, and to the great amazement of more than a few fellow drunken party-goers, I communicated with and then captured a great-horned owl.
I don't have pictures, but it was pretty freaking awesome.
Okay... so I didn't actually grab it, but it did come in very close for a first-hand look at the blotto fool who was hooting on the porch.

I spoke with my bank president about using the boiler room in their basement as well as a spare office and, as it turns out, shooting on their property is too much of a financial risk for them.
I hate banks. They're so conservative.
Anyway, I didn't want to push the matter any further, and insisted that I do hope to use the bank in the future. -- If not for Dead Week.
I've got other ideas in the back of my head for places to shoot. There are many many great places on campus, and since we're all college students.... I'm thinking that a majority of this film will be shot at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
I have removed the photos of the locations we've been denied.
Max and I are meeting tonight. We may have more to post later.

Any idea when you're going to start principal photography? Any schedule set in stone yet? I know some of us are out here location hunting and still casting.
Oh believe me, we are still doing ALL of those things. -- All of them.
I'm scheduled to meet with my co-director in about an hour. We've got our road map for the film (and have had one for some time now), but still need to write the full-fledged script. =) Things just REALLY started rolling here and it should be remembered that TwilightFest is still VERY new to us. :) I do, however, think that this is the most productive I've ever been during these dvxfests. I'm so motivated to work it's RIDICULOUS!!
Anyway, after tomorrow night we will for sure have more to say in the way of shooting dates. -- A lot of it revolves around location availability. Because of this I think shooting dates will be sporadically determined, hopefully calming down in the next two weeks or so. I will be in Seattle for a week starting this coming saturday. - I will still try and coordinate over the boards here, but will resume hammering away when I return the following thursday. (At which point my father's two bands will be playing at a local event called Capital City Ribfest (http://www.pershingcenter.com/ribfest/). I will be sure to post pictures from the weekend. It should be a blast.)
So yes, we are still scouting locations (especially now that the bank fell through) and writing. I've begun storyboarding (as you can see in the first post) and have also begun testing sound environments out with my equipment.
I do have more crew announcements to post but I will do that later tonight.

Wow did I miss a party today. Damn! I was out of the house from 930 to 930 and I didn't hit the computer until around 10. I got a new puppy though. Since we need to post a lot here, pictures of the dog will be coming soon. But now I am off to bed...
watch out for dick gere.. who knows what kinds of things he can fit in there..
puppies?
maybe.

Ok, this thread is in first place. Let's make sure it stays there....

Okay, I just lived with Mark Johnson and Tim Hyten for a month…and the last page of this thread has made even me go "WTF?"
It began with Mark's bird decapitation comics. Then I posted a picture of Ozzy Osbourne, who is known for the time he actually BIT off the head of a bird at a live concert. -- The picture I found actually had a mouse in it... for some reason... so Max recalled an urban legend (link provided a few posts back) in which Richard Gere performed some sort of obscene act involving a gerbil, toilet paper rolls, and fire. -- After which it is rumored that he was admitted to a hospital for a a "removal" surgery. -- I'll let you read the story yourself.
Thus, I have photoshopped Richard Gere's face onto Ozzy Osbourne's body, and in turn have given him an empty toilet paper roll and lighter fluid.
It's all out there for you, but we were probably so delirious last night that it seemed like the funniest thing in the world... to us. - We were creatively exhausted and this was the best thing we could offer.
Also, I can vouch for the fact that Mark Johnson and Tim Hyten are capable of MUCH stranger, more bizarre things. I've seen them, or at least heard of them. -- Believe me... this is child's play in comparison. :Drogar-Evil(DBG):

I'm up! I'm up! Stop crying, I'm here! My God, this is early for me. The puppy kept waking me up and finally I just said "Well, it's 7:00, I guess you can get up now." Which meant I was up too. At least I will be here for all of the festivities, maybe I should also get an early head start on my work for the day. I also have some other things to take care of as well. I might be out for a little while to go get my car from the shop...hopefully it passed smog this time. Yes, I just told you all my plan for the day...deal with it.
Whoa! I am actually going to run to the store right now to get some milk, I will be back soon and we can get this party started!

I don't think they have PVC pipes in Germany. I believe those are 25mm wooden dowel rods. Rumor has it that the U.S. is negotiating an agreement to share PVC technology with Germany but that it may be restricted to governmental use and not available for private purposes such as dolly track.

ETA - Penguin. You need to know this and you need to know this now. Use that dog to get chicks. It works. I didnt get a dog of my own until I was married (stupid me). I had all sorts of hot women coming up to meet my dog. Granted he's a show stopping dalmatian and even I have to stop and look at him cause he's a damn good looking dog, but I think any dog should do. Even that rat faced thing I compared you too over in the 02 thread gets ladies attention. Not necessarily attractive ones, but you cant win them all...

Kyle and I got some sweet shit done last night getting the script finished up. We had a lot of holes that we've filled in and we're gonna be working on it again tonight.. we have a meeting with some of the other guys tonight at my place (one of the locations for shooting tonight..)

Yeah I think I counted 12 REAL posts about our film and about 210 posts about nothing.
Shooting schedule will surface in due time. I realize it's hard to coordinate travel plans without any idea when things are happening... but we just took this project on about 2 weeks ago. It'd be a miracle if we had locations locked and a shooting schedule finalized. I work 10-5 everyday and outside of that I run my own freelance design business. It's hectic!
Until then, continue the hijacking... as long as you chime in about Dead Week once in awhile.
As for Max and I, we'll try to get everyone back on track (like mom and dad) when we're called upon. -- Though I do feel like Richard Gere is going to play an integral role in this thread.
