Okay, we all know that changing scenes in a script eats up line count. So in a competition like this where there is a strict limit on page numbers, you have to decide whether to use the line count for multiple scenes, or stick with a 1-scene story.

My script 'Alien Abduction' is just one scene.

How many scenes are in YOUR ScriptFest II script???

One has three, another has about eight (but there's little dialogue), another has four.

The one that I have slated for this fest as of right now has two scenes, one of which makes up the bulk of the vignette, the other is simply to draw the story to a close.

Five scenes, all continuous or moments later around a common location. I hardly count these as truly separate scenes, because there is a back-and-forth nature to them and no appreciable change location-wise.

But you DO still have to write "EXT. BOB'S GRILL - CONTINUOUS", a blank line or two, and a brief scene description for each. That takes up line count, which is why I was trying to avoid it. "Alien Abduction" barely makes it under the 6-page wire as it is.

It must go something like this...

EXT. ZOO - DAY

BOB does jumping jacks in the parking lot.

INT. HUMMER - DAY

CAROL drives at BOB.

EXT. ZOO - DAY

Hummer hits BOB.

And so on...

Roughly 2.833 scenes per page, give or take one of those 3s.

Zoom, zoom!

Finished mine on 14.

Speaking of which - I hope there is some regulation on the max pages this time. I really had to work to cut mine down.
