A bit more progress on the script last night. Starting to get some contacts who are interested in the project. Updated to V2 of the poster today.
23Jul08.-.
Nether screenplay first draft in progress. Pages one, two and six respectively.
23Jul08.-.
Temporary poster uploaded for Nether.

"Distraction is Death" will be the tag for Nether.
21Jul08.-.
Writing for Nether begins under extreme agitation and duress at DFW airport today. Dallas-Fort Worth is the place where on-time connections go to die. American Airlines can suck it.
19Jul08.-.
During a hard night of drinking at San Francisco's venerable Palace Hotel, the story foundation for Nether is born. A hasty outline is written on a Pied Piper napkin.
18Jul08.-.
Met with two-dozen of our closest friends tonight to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary in the City.

Welcome to the fest!

Thanks! During too many previous fests, I've been out on regular series work. The money is nice, but reality TV has definitely taken its toll on my creative energy.
Today, I've got page one, two and six almost finished. The ending didn't come first, but did reveal itself to me during my trip to San Francisco.
I'm excited about the project!

Thanks! Where is the high desert? I spent a lot of time in my yute out there near Barstow camping and four-wheeling.

Did you say, "yutes"?

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. The last thing I saw, I think, was the Grindhouse thing you did with Kimko and Callahan.
Barstow would be part of the High Desert. It starts at the top of the Cajon Pass as you come up from the Inland Empire and then spreads out across the vast plane leading to Vegas.

Thanks, Blaine. Yeah, it was good collaborating with some DVXUsers on that. Also had Jeremy Ordan on that one. Unfortunately, we only had one day to do that trailer. If we'd spent a week on it, we might've gotten something better. Excuses, excuses!
On the fests, I feel like the guy who never does anything around here. I have one of those "good problems", where my television work keeps me from working on stuff like this. At the moment, I'm between seasons, so I'll concentrate on this nut. Once the script is locked as a first-draft, I'll be much more confident as I discuss collaborating with the other users who have already contacted me. For the moment, I'm committed to not getting in my own way.
Is there anything quite like Devore in the summertime? I think not. Well, maybe Yermo, CA in the summertime.

Gabriel, thanks. Did you ever find your project? Hope so. I'm trying to keep up with everyone else on their entries - and still get mine done.
A mid-September shoot should give us enough time for bullet-proof pre-production phase and lots of time - six weeks - to accomplish two or three VFX shots, a score and titles.
I'm working diligently to keep it to four and one-half pages. Five at max.

Thanks Tom. Are you ready to shave your head and come to the NC for the role of a lifetime? That is, if your lifetime is the duration of this fest.

So, you got the assless chaps I sent you? BTW, those aren't for the shoot.

Yeah, that kind of falls outside the "within reason" thing... but I'm sure Rogan will dig em...

There goes the first draft! Okay, what about frontless chaps? Wait. Tom? Are you a nevernude?

Let's blame Mark Harris.
Erik Olson

Oh, believe me, I do already. Hopefully, this reality producer-shooter can make a transition back into narrative production that produces something half as good as what Mark has turned out. I'm always eager to see Harris' work.
First draft is done. Nothing will change from a logistics standpoint moving forward, so I'm going to launch into the breakdowns immediately.
Hopefully, I'll continue to get interest from users over the next few days and then I'll collaborate on rewrites and details like casting and so on.
