I know I think I might pee myself when filming this, just from memories. And no man don't ever do it, never never never! SO BAD! I some friends to when I told them that now want to try it. Creepy

Me Three, fun here at AOF. :)
Troy Ruff
08-04-2008, 11:17 AM
So I have to say AOF was a blast. Matt Sconce and his dad Gary along with my wife Heather all got to go. It was really fun getting to meet and hang out with some of the dvxuser crowd as well. I can't wait until next year. I say everyone should submit to AOF, they are a bunch of great people that just love making movies. We got to view all the films in a actual theater. Great experience. Updates coming soon on cast for my new film"Project: Psych-Light" :)

08-28-2008, 04:07 PM
I think... Cool bullet! Notice I am still writing here... I ducked! Whew! :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)
Troy, maybe you can PM me regarding the crane set up for your shot. Then I can get it ready fast when setting up.
Also, Matt's house is the old style double plug outlets and you will need to get around 6 of those little adapters that take 2 to 3 prongs for your shoot. I am not so sure what amperage his circuits have so I would recommend we plug in with extension cords from distant parts of the house and the kitchen to minimize impact on each circuit. I have to check to see if they are breakers or *gasp* fuses...

Fun, fun, fun!:)
What you don't see is when we roll a shot, the air conditioning must be turned off, and with it 96 degrees outside, it goes from 72 to 90 with bad breath humidity of many bodies in a flash... eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyuuuuuuuuuuuu!
Troy and Matt are tearing it up though.
The Hypercam and HyperCrane are out back for tomorrow. :kali:

I slept on a couch (that was too small) in the back yard two nights. Whew. what a hard working crew. I kinda skated myself, but I think Troy and Shane lost a lot of weight with the load. It was great meeting Bryan.
I was very happy with watching someone else do steadycam work with the Hypercam. I have many neato pics I will post of Shane running around with the rig on the shoot.
I did have some bugs with the HyperCrane, but nothing significant to cause the shoot any problems. Wow. What a high rig! A true vertical working rise of 20'. Can't wait to see grabs from it. :)

That's good. The funeral was amazing as she was a fire captain's wife. There must have been 30 fire trucks there and around 250 firemen. It was great seeing them support one of their own's loss. Firemen are really the good guys.
Yeah, just leave the Hypercam and HyperCrane there at Matt's and I will get them.
I am going to loan the Hypercam to DVXuser Jason Miller who is going to use it in San Francisco the first weekend of October. Just spreading the joy... :)
I was really happy that the Hypercam was helpful to you on Project Psych Light. You know, you ARE insane... (In a great way!)
May I have your permission to post some of my BTS of Psych on your thread. I promise I won't give anything away or show any of the secret oompa loompa characters. :lipsrseal

My favorite moment of shooting: Day 3. Around 3:30am. Living room is full. In between a take someone (Weston, I think), quitely says... "Taaake Onnnn Meeee..." pause... then everyone responds (Take on Me)... "Take Me Onnnnn" (Take on Me) "I'll be goneeeee, doo doo doooooooo!"
And then immediately we go right back to the next take, no one ever refers to this again. SO RANDOM. SO AMAZING. We were all exhausted out of our minds.

Ask Shane where the mount went after he used it on the Hypercam sled with your camera in the front yard. Also, find out who disassembled the C stand and the hyperdock and then carried it to its black hole location.
I am really worried as I have to get the hyperdock and mount plate by tomorrow or I have to:
1) Weld another hyperdock
2) Buy another mount
Because I can only go to Fresburg tomorrow. I have to be at Merced tomorrow evening and then go to a funeral in Oakhurst on Saturday, and then get the stuff to Jason Miller Sunday morning. Aaaaauuuuugh! :kali::Drogar-KnockedOut(Dme

Man, I know this sucks, I didn't use you plate on my camera, I never take the plate off of my camera and it's the same size, so that would not make since to take it off? I do remember when we were packing up, because I remember the plate got lost last time on the neatherborn shoot. So I took and asked you where to put it, and you took it and put it in your red toolbox, saying there is a place for everthing. So last time I saw it, you had it. The plate has to be at matts house, somewhere among the office, or garage. I can help look today when you come down. just give me a ring. :)

I tore everything apart at Matt's yesterday for an hour and was even opening all the boxes in the garage... no luck. I am pretty sure that the hyperdock is in one of your or Shane's many bags 'O stuff now. It is not at Matt's place. I bought the metal yesterday and am fabricating another one today, so not to worry.
It is funny, but, you know that the moment I finish this new hyperdock... the moment it is done... We will find the other one. Hehehehehe! :)
Say, if you want to meet DVXuser Jason Miller, I will be meeting him at the McDonalds on Cleveland St. in Madera just west of Hwy 99 across the street from Walmart tomorrow at 9am (Sunday 26th) to get him the Hypercam for his movie shoot. Real good opening scene - light camera and all.
But the contrast to the indoor is pretty harsh.
No offence, but I did not like the indoor light at all.
You loose so much atmosphere.
With some more effort of lighting this would be much better.

I think just keep the 6 min version, I would have to have it scored again if I changed it. And it actually flows better as a 6min than the 10min. The beginning before was dragging out to long. The bad thing about it thou is that you miss out on some of the story line and subplots. :) Also Ill let you know when the viewing is, if you want to come.

ahh it totally fits the theme, I mean there are many ways you can go about the "Twilight" Theme. These kids are doing something they shouldn't and they all pay for it in a way that is defiantly different from anything the world can explain. I use to watch a lot of tails from the crypt and their was some stuff that was like this. Except the beginning part of this film really did happen to me when I was in 7th grade. Pretty big undertaking. I'm amazed that you could squish this all into 6 minutes.
The effects are really good. The Matrix bullet effect is interesting and I enjoyed it, but I noticed the actors moving faster than they should be when compared to the speed of the bullet. But I think it worked out fine.
The story didn't really grab me, but I think that's just a matter of personal taste. Certainly a 180 degree turnaround from your TimeFest entry.
Nice work!

Nice work!
Thanks man, The Impossible Race was diffidently different than this. Hopefully this is better then my first film. Thanks for your support and feedback, I love it

What a great fun this film. A real horror/scifi-film. It took my attention the whole time and amused me a lot. You are a real comedy filmmaker - I also enjoyed very much your time fest entry. The score was fantastic. Compliments!

Good film man. Lot of nice effects and some good shots. That one closeup shot of one of the monster's faces was cool. We only get a second to try and make out it's face. You could have done more with the lighting to impact the mood but you did build the suspense with the pacing, the cuts, and the score. Actors did a good job too. Liked your film!

liked the photography, thought the plot was missing.

This was a fun little movie to watch. Visually, I was impressed with a lot of your images, the camera movements, and the special effects were surprisingly good. I was even scared... up to a point. You held me until the shadow people came in with the sword and stabbed that guy with the blood spurt at 4:11. Beyond that it was too much gore to gain the suspense back. It was probably more due to time constraints than anything else.
Again, thanks for making such an ambitious and fun short. I enjoyed it, even gave me goosebumps for a second.

Thanks, this was really to much for a short. Time really did hinder the film. But for what it is, I think its pretty great. Thanks for your feedback, I love it, positive or constructive. :)

The film succeeded in many ways. For being a small college students in someone’s house movie, it came off technically polished. I was impressed with your sound. Crisp and clear. The story didn’t really do it for me, but you’ve crafted one of the better violent random death films this fest. Also, were it my ego at stake, I would have been sad to see my name zip by in the credits. :D

Really well-done, over-the-top, zombie splatter. I really liked the imagery, use of colours, flashing light effects and the editing. The story is what it is.

I loved the effects. somewhere around 2:30 you see the production light in the kitchen. The story was a tad bit weak but this film more than made up for it with the cool effects and just plain old fun of it! Good job.

Lots of fun! .... and death. What an ambitious project with many cool visuals. I especially liked the sound design and visuals right after they focus on the ball.
Great music.
Gunshots were pretty weak sounding.
Many nice shots to get us into the house. It flowed.
I would like to see the directors cut that might explain more about the "why".
Congrats!

The film had good visuals and style. Some of the VFX could have maybe used a little more work. I liked the pacing, as it seemed that you were able to pull off lot of action in a short amount of time. It cool to see work from other local Fresnans in the fest. Good work!

if I had a couple million dollars, I'd pay someone else to make a movie for me, bludgeon them in a field, take the money back, take credit for the flick on dvx, then repeat until caught. sigh... if only.... :(

Hey man, this was sick. Nice work... this entire film felt so psychotic and nuts it was just a blast to watch. One of the coolest aspects for me were how quick the attacks came -- and how fast they dragged the bodies away.
My biggest gripe would have to be some of the sound effects (gunshots) and the visual effects overall didn't quite work for me. But otherwise that was a cool ride.

I demand a recount!!! JK I really like the top films in the finals too. I think there were a lot of great films in this fest. It's too bad there aren't enough prizes to go to everyone!
