Ok, I've been reading some posts 4x4 filters and all.

I have a UV and a polarizer -- one of those twisty kind.

I see people say screw the UV on and leave it there.

So -- when I put on my polarizer I get some vignetting (sp??) Should I deal with that or unscrew the UV and then put on the other filter... OR just don't zoom all the way out?

Thanks

I'd say YES to all! I guess it depends on what you are shooting. Its vignetting but will a letterbox cover it up? The reason I leave my UV on all of the time (aside from the obvious UV protection) is that I can no longer use my lens cap (even if it is a piece of dung). So, its good for UV and to protect my Leica from scratches.

Have you considered a Mattebox? (I know, I know pricey but damn if they arent cool)

Thanks John -- yes, don't even need to letterbox the footage... doesn't show up on most TVs. Just for web viewing... and I've gotten some crap about THAT! I guess it's worth it.

Hmmmm... Mattebox? I'm looking at a Lacie Extreme 1T drive... think I should get a Mattebox instead??? I guess it doesn't matter what I save if I'm shooting CRAP! LOL.

Hey CaptM - Do you have (or plan to get soon) any filters for a mattebox? If not, why not hold out until you can afford it all (or at least the mattebox and one filter)? Otherwise, a mattebox is just an expensive lens shade.

I believe most people scrambling to get a mattebox have not taken into consideration the expense that awaits them when they turn their attention to the cost of quality glass.

In that case... go for the LaCie Extreme. ;)
