As you can see, a respectable director always wears a beard.

So I decided to get (at least) the appearance of a respectable director and grow a beard during the shooting of "The Door".

Who else joins the "Beard of Directors Club"?

Documentation (before/during /after shooting) is required.

Never mind, it´s the spirit that counts.
Who cares what it look like?

Haha, the thing is, I will also play one of the main characters in my film. But I think it fits the character, so it might work :)

Yeah, it definitely is itchy, but you get used to it.

I always have a beard. I look 16 without one, not to mention just flat-out weird.

It's a bit scraggly, but it works for me.

I walked down that path for TimeFest. Ended up liking the beard so much I kept it. The wife likes it too. Bonus.

My favorite directors all have beards (usually): Ridley Scott, James Cameron, Guillermo Del Toro, Peter Jackson... The list is too long!

Another bit of trivia, when George Lucas was a fresh faced young lad, one of his first jobs was documenting the making of Coppola's "The Rain People." Coppola was impressed by the intense and ambitious young man and took him under his wing.

When Lucas asked him how to become a feature film director, Coppola gave him only two pieces of advice:

1. Learn how to write screenplays.
2. Grow a beard.

The rest is history.

PS. Unfortunately, this advice does not apply to most women.

You better double check if she SAYS she likes it or if she actually does!
I've heard real bad stories about that .. haha! :)

I think this thread is like, probably the most awesome one ever, keep
the spirit up, and hey Zak Forsman (http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/member.php?u=641), you look awesome in that beard :D

It's funny that someone would start this thread because I am actually growing out my "director's beard" for twilight fest :) it keeps my creative levels high!http://www.dvxuser6.com/uploaded/36397/1216597760.jpg

now that I think about it, I grew one for time fest, but it was more for my "character" paying homage to Kevin Smith but after I shaved and went back to the typical Dustin Rogan facial hair, which is just the goatee...but I've not shaved, so I guess, count me in for the directors beard!

I usually grow the beard, but I got tired of it, so yeah, I'm not doing it this time around.

I've had one for the past six years. Only shaved occasionally for roles. Do I win?

I think everyone should shave their hair and grow out their beards...or at least keep the 5 o'clock shadow...like I did

Okay I'm throwing my hat in: I'm growing a beard.. but my wife insists that it be neat and not scraggly and unpresentable. Let's see how logn I can keep this up before shaving it off in a fit of "oops" one morning...

i also shaved my head, but that's because I always shave my head. I'll take a pic later today when i can find the camera and chronicle my attempt at my "tamed director's beard".

My beard's been in place for a while, so I moved on to a Director's Helmet.

I have tried in the past, always end up shaving it off... it annoys me, itchy itchy... I find myself happier and more upbeat without a beard.
