MoviePoet.com (http://www.MoviePoet.com) is a free screenwriting site with over 600 hundred 5 page scripts in their database.

I realize that many scripts can be a little overwhelming to read through, so I thought I would list some scripts that might be interesting for TwilightFest (I'll continue to add more as I think of them). BTW, most of these scripts will need "a ball" added to the story to comply with the rules.

"Candy (http://www.moviepoet.com/script.aspx?scriptid=566)" by Micah Ricke
These teenagers always follow the rules and they always do as they're supposed to.

"Dark Matter (http://www.moviepoet.com/script.aspx?scriptid=707)" by Brian Wind
Paddy and McGuire know exactly where to find the loot. Too bad they aren't so sure where to find the booby traps....

"Day of Wrath (http://www.moviepoet.com/script.aspx?scriptid=209)" by William Coleman
A horrific nuclear accident at SAC in Omaha unleashes the silent death of radiation across the Midwest. When a farmer and his wife realize that their lifelong exposure to x-rays means they will die before their young children, they are faced with a horrible dilemma.

"Dreamland (http://www.moviepoet.com/script.aspx?scriptid=629)" by Erich VonHeeder In Production
Trapped in a coma by a failed sleep experiment, a scientist reaches out to his assistant through her dreams, begging her to murder him.

"Happy Birthday (http://www.moviepoet.com/script.aspx?scriptid=187)" by Antonio Gangemi
A young boy receives the best birthday wish a son could ask for.

"Hope Chest (http://www.moviepoet.com/script.aspx?scriptid=745)" by Paul Jaworsky
A man is haunted by the contents of a trunk in his attic.

"Mom Sex (http://www.moviepoet.com/script.aspx?scriptid=502)" by Austin Jones
In a post apocalyptic America, a teenage boy challenges the only belief system he knows…his mothers.

"Randall (http://www.moviepoet.com/script.aspx?scriptid=686)" by Ron Blizzard
Show and tell takes an odd turn in Mrs. Peterson's 4th grade class.

"Remembering Dartmouth (http://www.moviepoet.com/script.aspx?scriptid=89)" by Wes Worthing
A loving couple undergoes a memory deleting procedure to improve their health. An unexpected deletion leads to a life changing outcome.

"Sex for Life (http://www.moviepoet.com/script.aspx?scriptid=493)" by William D. Prystauk
A young teen hits puberty and his whole world changes.

"Shake It! (http://www.moviepoet.com/script.aspx?scriptid=746)" by Dan Delgado
Some rooms aren't what they seem to be.

"Some Words with a Mummy (http://www.moviepoet.com/script.aspx?scriptid=637)" by Audrey Webb
A weak-willed man learns courage after coming face to face with a mummy.

"The Last Fisherman (http://www.moviepoet.com/script.aspx?scriptid=46)" by Matthew Phillips In Production
A young boy finds himself alone in post-apocalypse New England.

"Use Only As Needed (http://www.moviepoet.com/script.aspx?scriptid=612)" by David D. DeBord In Production
Sometimes there's just too much noise.

You will need to register (it's quick, easy, and free) to read the scripts. If you find one you like, please contact the author directly to arrange for the rights.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

I'm still having a hard time figuring out what's appropriate. I read the first script, "Candy" - I don't think it fits this fest. For those that haven't read it: a killer holds three kids captive, and he's got special rules they have to follow or they die. This isn't a "twisted world" script, it's a serial killer script. There's no twist to that world. I mean, if that script fits, then you can argue that EVERYTHING will fit - you can find a twist in everything right?

So you can see I still have no clue what's supposed to fit.

I am working on another FREE Twilight script for persons who might be interested!!!

gabrielflorit, I totally understand your opinion about "Candy". I agree it would never have been a Twilight Zone episode (I love The Twilight Zone). But I love the twist in "Candy" and I think it is totally in keeping with a "Tales from the Crypt" vibe, which is also listed under the rules.

Just so people know, I selected a wide range of scripts from MoviePoet - some are sweet and some are scary. If anyone is looking for a particular type, let me know and I can help point you in the right direction.

Lastly, if any mod's think any of the scripts are not right, let me know and I'll take it off the list.

There was a great script I read on moviepoet.com. I can't remember the name but I remember it was about a robber who enters a house and he's eventually tortured by the old blind guy inside. I think that could make for a great entry. I'm sure Chris could point someone to that one.

I believe this is the script you are referring to:

"Dim (http://www.moviepoet.com/script.aspx?scriptid=1)" by Charlie Hebert
A thief finds much more than he bargained for in the home he's broken into.

I also believe it is still available for production.

I regret that my script "Flower Girls" is actually not available. It has already been sold to a production team, and may be shot this fall. Sorry!

Don, Awesome script. I'm glad to hear someone snatched it up and I will remove it from the list.

I added another beautiful script, "Happy Birthday" in it's place.

Matias, That's great news about your script. I took it off the list of potential scripts.

Meanwhile, I added another script "Some Words with a Mummy" (an adaptation of a Poe story) in it's place.

I just read one of the scripts, "Dim" and it's pretty good. I really liked it. This is a good thread to link the writers and directors together.

Charlie Hebert, the writer of "Dim", is a great guy. If you are interested in filming that script, you should definitely reach out to him.

Thanks, Chris. I'm definately thinking about it. I usually write my own stuff, but I liked the cleverness and simplicity of that one.

Hey Chris, Thank you for listing the link and the scrits. I tried to register with the site and you said I broke it. :D What do I need to do to either view one of the scripts and or contact the authors for permission to use one of them.

Also I think I would like to enter one of the contests as well.

Cedric, Thanks for trying to register, I'm sorry it's not working for you.

Can you give me a little more detail on what's happening, so I can help you. Did you receive the registration email? I noticed you have a gmail account; sometimes our registration emails end up in a bulk or spam folder. You might want to check there.

Sure Chris, while registering I put in my name, email address, and password and clicked register. I checked my email address and there was no confirmation email in my inbox or spam. I checked back at your site and tried to reregister and it says that I am already registered, but when I try to log in it does not recognize either my name or password. I have no idea of what to do next.

Cedric, You should have received a registration email and you would have clicked on a link within to activate your account. It sounds as though that email has disappeared in the ether.

In any case, I just manually activated your account and you should be able to login now.

Please let me know if you have any more issues and I hope you enjoy the site.

i don't mean to deter the thread, but do people who put their scripts on moviepoet.com and such for free, sell their 5 page scripts? or is it through other means and they just wanted to put a scrript out there?

I ask because I thought getting a script sold was uber hard if you don't know anyone.

Chris Messineo

Homer, It's a great question.

The majority of MoviePoet scripts that have been produced, have been given to the filmmakers for free. Those that have sold are usually for $50 or $100.

In my opinion, none of the writer's at MoviePoet are trying to get rich with their short scripts. They are simply looking to hone their craft, see some of their stories get produced, and make some new relationships. For example, several of our writer's have gotten other paid assignments based on the quality of their work at MoviePoet.

It is still just as hard as ever to get your feature script sold and produced, but with short scripts you can learn and have lot of fun while still pursuing your ultimate goal.

Another MoviePoet.com script has gone into production, so I've added a new script to the list above, "Randall".

The latest MoviePoet.com contest has come to a close and there are several new scripts that are perfect for TwilightFest. I'm adding three new scripts up top: "Shake It!", "Dark Matter", and "Hope Chest" (and there are a lot more over at MoviePoet).
