Ok, you heard the prizes at the screening or via the webcast. Now, I'll run down who got what.
First, though.... I have to think especially a few sponsors in particular for helping to make the screening even happen by donating their time and/or money to fund the event.
Tim Ovel at Indifocus (http://www.indifocus.com) donated straight up cash to help pay for the event.
Dennis Wood from Cinevate (http://www.cinevate.com) also did the same
And, Andrew Hoffman and the Spec-Comm (http://www.spec-comm.com) team also graciously donated cash to help fund the screening and even to make it possible.
Also, much thanks go to Brian Valente and his Redrock (http://www.redrockmicro.com) crew for being so gracious with their budget and time to cover the event for us with pictures and for setting up the red carpet area as well.
Fat Monster was the boots on the ground who got everything organized and put together for this event, and it was initially their idea as well. The above folks made it happen by paying for it.
I also want to take the time right now to thank all of the members and all of our festival sponsors who you are about to hear right now.
And, of course thanks to Jarred Land for building this lovely filmmaking empire that continues to grow and spread across the web, and creates new opportunities for our members all of the time.
I'm always amazed by all of you guys and the time and effort that you all put in. Just getting up and making a film is half the battle, and more than many folks can say. So, thank you for doing that.
Prizes coming in the next post :)
Later,
Jason

Ok... Onto the prizes. Our sponsors always step up to donate prizes for the fests, and generally we have been growing that prize pool with every fest. This time around there were a few other things we wanted to focus on. Getting your films out there to the public with the screening. Getting some of your films in front of a panel of industry professionals that included Oscar winning producer of Schindler's List, as well as Former Creative Head of Hana Barbera and other studios. This was a first step in a greater vision that you can expect to see materialize as we move forward.
But, that doesn't mean that we don't still have some great prizes from some great sponsors for you guys as usual :)
In addition to the traditional audience vote and audience prizes, we decided to throw a prize to the winner of the Panel vote as well. That was O2.
DVXuser is giving you guys $1,000.00 in cash for your accomplishment there. This is the first time we've done a cash prize in addition to traditional prizes, that you guys can spend wherever and however you like.
Now, onto the popular vote:
As you know, O2 won 1st place in the popular vote. The voter turnout for this fest was great. We had almost 3x the amount of votes that we normally get.
Here are the prizes for 1st place:
Cinevate has agreed to donate one of their new Brevis MP.1 35mm adapters in addition to the cash they put up to fund the screening. They are offering up the flipped version of their MP.1.
They step up to donate 4-6 thousand worth of prizes every year, and have always been a big supporter of you guys. More info on the Brevis and Cinevate's other products can be found here:
http://www.cinevate.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=71&osCsid=e1db0042e71c901e24f16ea5

In addition, you guys will also receive a brand new product from Varizoom. A Zero Gravity Tripod head which won best of show from two different magazines at NAB '08. You will also receive a tripod with 100mm bowl and a TFT 7" monitor kit to round out this package. I'm pretty excited to know what you guys think about the Zero Gravity.

http://www.varizoom.com/products/tripods/vz-t100a.html
http://www.varizoom.com/products/monitors/vztft7.html
Varizoom also always steps up to offer prizes for every fest, and they spare no expense, as is evident from the above prize package from them.
Not quite done with 1st place :)
We'll also throw in a Litepanels LP Micro from the new dvxuser sponsors on the block dvestore (dvecreators.net)
DVeStore approached me during the last fest and said they would like to help support our cause and our members, and of course I said yes :) They've responded with over $4,000.00 worth of prizes donated to LoveFest and TimeFest combined.

Ok... drawing out the suspension... 2nd place prizes will be in the next post :)

And, for 3rd Place... going to The Small Multiple:
Very high in demand from Redrock: Their new Redrock micro matte box deluxe. Brian and crew took pictures of the screening so we could all have record of the event, but they also wanted to support the filmmakers by donating a prize again for this fest. Over the last two fests, Redrock has donated over $4,000.00 worth of prizes to the winners.

Just wondering what is going on with the last prizes. I would think they should go up before the next festival is in full swing, so there is complete closure, but I understand the business of the people involved. Hope everything goes smoothly for you all and I am excited to see the final end of this fest.

There would be no event without Fat Monster. I heard FM even put some of their own dough into the event too. these are good guys, all around. Any sponsorship money left over that could be sent their way? i think they even paid out-of-pocket for the actual physical awards that the winners took home (i could be wrong). as much as mark johnson insists that FM is the "frat house" of production companies, my own perception of them is one of a total class act and i'm proud to know them. my hats off to Fat Monster – Mark, Tim and of course Super-Luis!!!

We were delighted to be able to facilitate the Cinespace event and we all had a blast the whole weekend. Really, the main regret I have is that the timing didn't allow SABI to co-host it with us as we planned originally. Zak has become an extremely good friend and we make no secret that we watch what he does and are humbled. One way or the other we will do a SABI/FM co-hosted event down the road and I promise that it will rock.
In other FM news, it appears that we are going to move into L.A. and regrettably abandon the Monster Shack East. Those who have been here know how cool the setup is. However, we're realizing that the work we're getting and the need for all three of us principals to be in close proximity trumps the advantages that Rancho Cucamonga has. Luis is going to move into new digs about 5 minutes from his house and we (Tim and me) will take over Luis's house. We may have a free bedroom to rent out if anyone is interested in observing Monster life from the inside.....

Mark,
That is a shame about having to move, it sounded like you had a great setup at the MSE and I was looking forward to stopping in in October to say hi. I suppose I can still do that where you will be, in fact, you will probably be closer to me this way anyway. When will the move be final?
