Oh... I see. Didn´t know that.

Haven´t seen the Circle, but that peep hole in" The Door"
plays a very prominent and....

SPOILER AHEAD!

....pretty bloody role.

Spoiler mode/off

That´s why it is on the poster.

Hope ya guys don´t mind.

A bloody peephole.... I can't friggin wait :D I am sure that you are the one that can make a complex story out of a door with a peephole!

After seeing Simons DIY dolly, I spended almost the whole day in my workshop and fabricated a dolly with jib arm.
The jib is pretty hevy duty and I can extend it to about 7.3 ft- you can hang a bullock at it.

It takes an other view hours of work and some flat black sprayover (remeber that everything looks professional if you paint it flat black) .

Sorry for the lousy pictures (mobile phone) - but you get the idea. Next time I bring a camera.

For sure he had to build a better dolly than mine! :D

Well, but I only spent 1 1/2 hours assembling this thing and I am happy with the result! :)

Looks good so far Frank!

This looks fantastic, but what caught my more was actually the car! it looks in very good condition, did you use it for Unzeit?

Yeah, and I'm still waiting for your e-mail!

It´s a 41 Chevy. Usualy our daily driver during summer.
It just got a new paint job and I´m putting it back together now.

Yeah, and I´m still waiting for that board.

Actualy I canceled the order after waiting a month and orderd elswhere.

The script for The Door is in german, since I decided - after that "accent desaster" in Unzeit to do it in german - but everybody tries to talk me into a english version - so I have to translate now.
That´s not easy cause it was made very german with some special german characters and Berlin accent. Not sure if those characters work in english.

Actually, I meant the email about The Door from about ten days ago. Did you receive it?

Personally, I think you should keep it in German. I don't think you should compromise on quality by trying to adapt a German script that will not necessarily work as good in English just because the majority of us don't speak German.

Also I think that this way, the film will stand out from the rest of the films in this challenge for its unique setting, or at least that's my input.

My friend, that's a super car. I like your chic.

Simon Höfer

Do it in German! This time I am the German fool that tries to make an English film :D But I think it might work with the concept I've got :)

Hello Frank,

I am glad to see you back in the forum with a new entry, after Unzeit which I like so much. If you need some help with english subtitles, let us know, Jason is motherlanguage english and I could explane him the text. For Red Shoes it worked very well!

Best wishes

Susanne

Patience please gentlemen.

I´m on a full time shedule since the last 2 months - so I have verry view time for that project.

Nevertheless shooting starts on first October week.
Since I have only one location - a door (well actualy it is a different door from outside) - I hope to wrap it in 2 days.

So...

good things come on those who wait :)

I will post some grabs for ya guys as soon as I have them.

mmmh... maybe I can spill at least a bit of production information.

Since I regret it, to have very static camera in UNZEIT, The Door will have some
verry sophisticated camera moves (at least in my league).
This is even harder because of pretty limited space.
Remember that I build a crane and dolly where I can mount it.

The Idea for The Door is that the camera moves are
verry motivated (I know, they should be anyway) - way beyond the usual level.

So my focus this time is a verry minimalistic, extrem austere set, doing the magic only with
movement, shadow....

.....and your fear

THE DOOR IS CANCELED!

this was a sad week.

1. Lost my main actress to a paid job (her first as actress - well what can I say?).
2. after shifting the shooting weekend twice because of my second important
character he wanted an other reschedule, but then I run out of time because of the deadline.

I tried to get replacements the whole week but today
I lost my main location because of owner change.

That was the last straw.

Somehow I run out of bravery for this project.
I will do it cause it´s a great concept and story, but not now and not for this fest.

Sorry folks and good luck for your projects.
