Those "leaps and bounds" improvements are the best things to come out of these fests, in my opinion.

Yeah. I'm very proud of The Big Blind. It was by far one of the best shorts I've ever made. I'm looking forward to going even further this time around.

Thanks Tommy! I appreciate it!

I think that once we decide what direction we want the short to go in, whether it be more Horror or more Comedy, we'll have a much better idea of what we're dealing with. So many options are flying around, haha.

ZFarms Productions
07-14-2008, 10:26 PM
Yeah. Plus outside the one idea I have which can go two directions, I'm trying to come up with back up ideas to have just in case.

Screenplay is almost a lock. It's 4 1/2 pages. Nice and concise. Going to make some minor dialogue tweaks.

Yes. Bart (the casting director) really wants to help out. I was the casting director for "The Big Blind" and while I enjoyed it a great deal, I'd like someone else to be helping with their input, and help take a little of the pressure off me, because I'm working hard with our visual effects guy, Martin Rivera (DVXuser name Martin Rivera) on the shots I have in mind for the VFX, plus working with the DP Josh on everything possible now, to ensure a smooth running set.

just got sides and bios done. we're getting ready to start casting as soon as possible.

ZFarms Productions
08-04-2008, 01:57 PM
Looks like we won't be able to cast until Sept. 6th at the earliest. I wanted to cast earlier and have more time to work with the actors, but the current schedule I have for classes isn't allowing us to cast any earlier.

Oh well. As long as we can cast and shoot before the due date, I'm happy. I'll post any updates as they come in, but until we cast there probably won't be too much more news.

Rodney V. Smith
08-04-2008, 02:02 PM
You can still go ahead and do your shotlist... You have any time for even rudimentary storyboards? I've found that those are a great help when planning shotlists and taking care of any potential problems.... especially any crossing the line problems...

ZFarms Productions
08-04-2008, 02:30 PM
Oh yeah, I've been working on storyboards/shot lists since I finished the script. I just wasn't going to say anything about it. But yeah, those are being worked on as we speak.

Rodney V. Smith
08-04-2008, 02:32 PM
aha! A secret ferreted out. Guess you;re not going to be posting storyboards anytime soon eh?

ZFarms Productions
08-04-2008, 02:33 PM
God no. My storyboarding sucks.

Rodney V. Smith
08-04-2008, 02:40 PM
there is technology for that...

ZFarms Productions
08-04-2008, 02:49 PM
yes but with technology comes money. i don't have any i can dump into storyboard software. i have to save it all for the budget of the film. i don't have a job, so i'm living from expense check to expense check.

Rodney V. Smith
08-04-2008, 02:54 PM
I hear ya. Gotta make the money really count in every way. I have my own business and half the time is spent chasing down new jobs, so I completely understand the need to budget wisely.

I seem to remember somebody posting their sketches that were one step above stick figure, but they did serve to illustrate the scene very well. My own rough sketches are quite similar so it's not completely unheard of. I'll post mine and then you'll see how bad mine are and then not feel so ashamed of your drawing ability...

ZFarms Productions
08-04-2008, 03:10 PM
my sketches get the point of the shot across, they're just not that great quality wise.

Rodney V. Smith
08-04-2008, 03:11 PM
i'm guilty of stick-figures.

ZFarms Productions
08-05-2008, 08:36 PM
i'm officially dropping out of Twilight Fest. I can't get casting secured in enough time for us to shoot, and edit, and put in the VFX shots.

Tom Marshall
08-05-2008, 09:40 PM
What!??! Man, that sucks! Sorry to hear it, Dean...

What would you need in terms of cast? How many actors?

ZFarms Productions
08-05-2008, 09:47 PM
5 actors. 3 mid 20's, 2 in their 40's and 50's.

it sucks, but oh well. i'm gonna focus on some other scripts i've got.

Tom Marshall
08-05-2008, 09:54 PM
When were you planning on shooting?

ZFarms Productions
08-05-2008, 09:55 PM
september 7th, 14th, 28th.

Tom Marshall
08-05-2008, 09:57 PM
I can put a word out to some of the actors I know in Ocala, but I can't promise anything...

ZFarms Productions
08-05-2008, 09:59 PM
its all good man. i appreciate it though. i'm just gonna work on the other projects i have in the works.

Michael Anthony Horrigan
08-05-2008, 09:59 PM
Sorry, man.

ZFarms Productions
08-05-2008, 10:01 PM

ZFarms Productions
08-05-2008, 10:09 PM
definitely.

also, tommy, i'm waiting for those notes

Tom Marshall
08-05-2008, 10:16 PM
Yeah, I know. I need to set some time aside to work on them. I'm a really bad procrastinator... lol

ZFarms Productions

Dude. We're still working on the script! I know for a fact that on O2 there were arguments on PUNCTUATION for lines in the script up til the night before shooting! It's all about detail, man... and I think it's too early in the game to tell if you're behind or not.

AND we need makeup aficionados, brilliant FX treatments, and locations that will allow us to hold crazy over-the-top gore zombie battles!

Sorry to hear you are dropping out, man. Wish you didn't have to!

ZFarms Productions
08-06-2008, 06:42 AM
all the casting dates from now till november are booked solid. i can't get in to get a casting call out for the film.

i'm saving the script to do at a later date, but there's no feasible way to get it done for twilight fest.
