View Full Version : Music Promo The Hair - "Half Cut"
Shot on sony XDCAM EX1, Camera fixed to a "WOBBLE board" patent pending lol.
As you can see we were a little short on green screen and some lengthy masking was needed.
All in all the camera performed great and held up well in keylight.
take a look at the footage

eh, to be honest, i couldn't get through the whole thing. what was the point of the wobble board? it just made them look like they were stumbling or drunk.
i don't want to come off harsh, but here's some constructive criticism ... the shots were too repetitive, the editing seems weak in several places, the FX were pretty boring, and the overall "look" of the band comes off super young/immature. also, the lead singer looks pretty drugged up in some of the shots.
just throwin it out there !

I can't say I've ever seen someone do that kind of 'wobble board' thing before, so congrats that!
Yes I do agree there could have been a bit more variety in the backgrounds etc, but overall an interesting concept.

Overall, I liked it. Yeah the wobble board did make them seem drunk at times but it also gives the video a quirkiness and I think that's what you were going for. And you get originality points for that. I liked the background graphics. I do agree that the piece could have benefited from more variety of shots. But overall I enjoyed it. Keep it up.

I enjoyed it. The chroma key was very clean. How did the EX1 do as far as green screen shooting? Any special settings?
The wobble board was pretty inventive. How did you come up with it? Could the background shake when the wobble board does? That may be neat a few times.
I agree that it's a bit repetitive visually after awhile. I think if you add a story line element and sprinkle it into the video, you will really have something great. For example, in a typical music video you have the band performing at one location, then a story line at another location with some actors or a hot model and the lead singer. Maybe instead of actors, you could just shoot the band hanging out or posing at a second location. Perhaps you could not do that with a small budget.

Nice job! They say genius is in the simplicity...and it's very creative and helps convey the song's message and feel without being distracting. The only thing that caught my attention was the lack of lighting on some of the faces...a little too black in spots. I luved the cuts and pacing during most of it.
