The EX1 LCD went bad today, showing bad pixels, upon startup and when unit is off it shows some sort of marks, See attached pics. Does any one know Sony's replacement part for this LCD or does it have to go back for replacement?

I'm surprised that's a do it yourself job. When the LCD on my DVX went bad, I had to send it in, and the repair was quite expensive. Let us know how it goes.

Steve, Great video. Thank you.
Where did you get the service manual? Can it be ordered?
Also, was your EX1 out of warranty? You mentioned that the LCD part was $500. US.

Nicely done, Steve. That price is pretty amazing. Just think of how much TV you could buy for $500! One question related to your service manual: Does Sony tell you what mode or what settings to have the camera set to before you begin the FB backfocus adjustment routine? My EX1 is making its' third trip to Sony Service and I had a terrible time getting the Auto FB routine to run after it lost the ability to focus to infinity.

Place a flat object having a high and significant contrast at the distance of 3 meters far from the camera.
Set the ZOOM switch to SERVO
Adjust the camera position so that the object stays in the center when shooting the object with the TELE end of the ZOOM.
Set the ZOOM to the WIDE end to confirm that no object with high brightness (such as high illumination or reflective object) inside the picture frame.
Set the lens iris to OPEN
IF the video signal is too high, use a electronic shutter to a moderate video signal level.
Execute auto FB Adjust

That sounds pretty much what I tried. I printed out 9 large Siemens Star targets and set it up in the studio but the test failed to complete.....stuck on "Executing" for 20 or 30 min. It went back to Sony yesterday but I wanted to double-check that I hadn't done something idiotic while running the test. Thanks, Steve.
Steve,
Nice video instruction. And yes, where did you find that manual? Did you have to buy it from Sony? If so, how much?
