Im thinkin of buying a camera and at the moment, its currently looking like being a Sony HDR-Fx1. Ive heard both good an bad things, im jus interested to see what people think of them, especially those of you who have or have had one.

Alos, if you dont like it, what would you recommend in the same price range??

Cheers,
Tom

Hello,
I own a Fx1 and like it a lot. The only things that I would say is the audio inputs really limit you. It only has a mini jack for an external mic. I just recently picked up my second camera and its the Sony HVR-Z1 & from what i have seen so far i love this one even more. I have had no problems w/ my FX1( Knock on wood :) ), it has been a great camera especially for the price. If you can afford the Z1 i would recommend that with out a doubt. But in the Fx1 price range I couldnt find anything that was as good!

Hope that helps a little bitm and if you have any more questions let me know!!

Audio i'd say is a rather large factor that would turn me away from this camera, before i bought my HMC i considered this camera but the cons i came up with outweighed the pros by a lot.

cons: shoots in 12bit audio, shoots on 60i and 30p, no option for Solid State recording media, horrible lowlight capabilities.

pros: shoots in full 1080i, produces great day time colors
