That's one thing I miss from by bigger pro cameras. They all came with a "quick release" mechanism that mounts on the tripod and interfaces with the camera. Using these Quick Release mechanisims, one can quickly move the camera from the tripod to a shoulder brace or a jib arm without unscrewing and re-screwing a mounting bolt. So that's the question: Has anyone found a Quick Release plate that will work well with the EX1. So far, I haven't.

Phil Bloom reports on having found one. However, I haven't been able to find a US supplier. His source is unavailable.

check out the manfrotto line.
I use the 357 sliding type, but there are several.

I use the bogen 394:

They are about $50 each and work great. I have one on tripod, one on shoulder mount and one on our Flyer. I have one camera plate on a Z1, one on a EX1 and one on a Nikon D70.

I also use the Manfrotto 394.

It mounts and dismounts quickly. And if I'm shooting a combination of tripod and Glidecam shots, it lets me re-mount the camera onto the Glidecam without shifting the delicate balance of the Glidecam.

I use a giotto that you can get from B&H - very cheap - works fine.

Hey...A BIG Thanks to you all. I decided to go with the Bogen/Manfrotto 394 since it seemed the beefiest of the bunch. Found a store selling them for $35 so I bought three. Hope they work...I'm still a little worried they won't hold the weight well.
This would be a good product from someone to come out with (like 16x9, or Zacuto)... a beefy Quick Release plate for the EX1 WITH a 35mm adapter. Something similar to the big camera Sony quick release plates (VTU-14)...now those are solid !
