Is there a way to play hdv timeline from fcp to ex1 via firewire and be simultaneously output camera (downconverted sd) directly to a dvd recorder. i tried but did not get any signal into the ex1 via firewire. i was using the compnent cable into an hdtv to monitor with no signal, noticed there was no signal on the ex1 lcd either.

:banned: If you record directly or playback from the SxS chips on the EX-1 recorded in HDV2 1080i, you will get a signal to a HDV deck or camera (Sony) through "fire-wire" directly, once the receiving unit is set in record mode. As far as a DVD recorder goes, Sony or other manufacturers may have a recording deck that can do the same, but it must have the capability to record HDV2 in a DVD format. It is sometimes more successful if you stick with the same manufacturer when dealing with "fire-wire," since, upon connection, they do a "handshake" before they can transmit. Let me know if you find a DVD recorder that is successful! --Carl
