How do I put the cam in edit-mode?

Hello. Im brand new with the HVX200, so bear with me the ghetto cam questions.. I have a 1394 firewire cable, and for now I will only edit with mini dv tapes. How do I get the editing software to recognise the camera on my macbook? Now it will only find the internal camera. How do I put the cam in edit-mode?

There's a button on the back of the camera below the scene file selector.
