I am debating on wether or not to buy more p2 cards. I already have 1 16 and 1 32. I dont know what would be a better investment 1 more 32gb or a stock mac book pro. (already have final cut studio 2 and a mac pro). I would really like to stay away from fs100's as the batteries suck. I do any type of job from commercials feature films too your daughters ballet recitals and weddings.

I'd get the macbook pro.

It makes ingesting data onto your hard drives in the field effortless.

I have a Macbook Pro, 30" cinema display (with travel case) and a Duel adapter. Makes ingesting data a breeze.

Second that, not sure about the dual adaptor though as last I tried using one it was to buggy to use comfortably on a regular basis. I would go with a second hand P2store and find a good deal on the MBP, or get an older one a G4 with as much memory as possible and the PCMCIA slot if it is only for downloading.

Yikes...
2 camera shoot + Powerbook G4 = horribly slow ingesting. I will never make that mistake again. Hunting desperately for a better solution.

A MacBook Pro and duel adapter EC/34 ingests twice real time.

I have been using a MacBook Pro 2.4 and a Duel Adapter with pretty good success. After about eight months my DA went bad and the company replaced the unit and I am happy again. For $120 its a relatively cheap solution to bring the MacBook and P2 together while staying inside the Mac OS on the external drives. I offload a 16 gig card in 8 minutes with the computer attached to a quality external hard drive via FW 800 cable.
Mac discounts refurbished machines on the Apple website - its how I bought the one I am using. I have a PC laptop with a PCMCIA slot and I never touch it. I have found the P2 workflow with an all Mac solution works well and remains reliable.
