Disregard. Still don't understand why 0 on the camera doesn't equal 0 in FCP, but it sounds fine.

Hey,

New to this site, but tons of great info in here. I've searched for this topic already but was unable to find a specific answer. I'm working on a project with some friends tomorrow and I had a question regarding the optimum sound level for this camera. I'm running a couple lavs and a 416 through a Sound Devices 302 mixer into the HVX200a, and my question is in regards to "0" on the meter in this camera. After adjusting the levels on the camera to see the generated 1k tone from the Sound Devices "0" at -12dbfs on the camera levels we went through and did an audio test. Based on my knowledge of digital signal, I've always kept from hitting "0" on this type of camera because that immediately create digital distortion. Now, that being said, when we're hitting just below "0", red mark on that camera, it doesn't seem to transfer to Final Cut at the same level?! Keeping the levels just above -12dbfs on the camera doesn't seem to be a hot enough level. Is there any headroom on this camera or will it blow out after just touching the red? Any insight, explanations, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
