Ok Im going to start testing the waters. I know I need to get familiar with the DVX100a first. but jsut wondering. a few things.

What is the best way to get good sound. I see some using the XLR mic input and some say to record seperately and so that the sound can be edited and cleaned up and then added back to the video.

Basically I want to be able to have a nice clean sound. I am still learning the software too. Premiere and After effects. among a few others.

Any suggestions on how to achieve a really good sound for film and how to go about getting it without paying out like crazy to do it?

You might want to post this over at the audio only forum or check out one of great sticky threads there:

He puts together a bunch of simple packages for those who are just starting out.

Good luck!

Sound For Film and Television (http://dvxuser.com/articles/dvxshop/SoundDVD/) by a bunch of DVXUser guys.

Get that, watch that, then you will have a better understanding.

Good advice, follow it. Stay away from people posting shopping lists.

I'm new to this also - Ditto on the "Sound for film and television" - I got mine a week or so ago and it has had a profound effect not only on my approach but on what I purchased this week. I can sincerely say that it saved me $2000
