Component output problem

I am using the component output on my HVX for the first time and I am having a problem.

I have the component cable that came with the camera connected to the camera and I have the red green and blue strands plugged into the back of a Sony CRT monitor that has RGB input.

I have the monitor set to sync on green.

I have the camera set to output color bars.

The signal I get is overwhelmingly green. If I disconnect either the red or the blue only a slight variation appears in some areas of the screen.

If I have only the red or the blue attached the image is unsteady.

Any idea what's going on?

Is the output of my camera broken?

I get a good image using SVHS.

The camera only outputs a component Y, B-Y, R-Y signal. It will not support RGB output. Perhaps this is the issue? You may be able to switch from RGB to Component in the monitors menus.
