guys, ive been given the task to create a website for a company. They gave me a bmp as a logo without transparancy. Im not a photoshop expert, but is there a way to extract this from the white background with smooth results.
i tried the extract tool, i tried it by hand, but all with limited results. thanks for the help if any

There's different things I had to do for this particular one. What you have to do is create a black and white image for the mask. What's white is what you want to show through and what's black is what you want to not show through (be transparent.) So you have to go into channels and create a mask. The high contrast areas are easy to separate, but for the white parts, I had to create a few vector paths and then use that to create the mask by converting it to a selection and doing it that way. I'm sure that makes no sense... :)

I don't know why I never came into this section before. I don't do this for a living like Tommy, but I can do a not too shabby job. I figure for the most part I just run around posting shit. The only real thing I ever have to say is if I am talking about fests or screenplays, now I can add another area onto that list. :grin:
