I was watching last weeks episode of CSI when I heard some very, very familiar loops. I believe they used 2 loops from Soundtrack which comes bundled with Final Cut Pro 4.0 and FCP HD. Now they did alter the sound a bit to add a little change to it but I fool around with soundtrack so much that I know when I hear something from there. I have composed close to 20 songs using ST so far.

I've asked this in another forum, but didn't get a positive answer, so I keep asking whenever it comes up. Is there anything comparable to soundtrack for PC?

I'm not entirely sure what soundtrack does, but my immediate responce would be Encore.

Encore is for DVDs

You are looking for a program that can use Loops. There are a few but Acid is pretty sweet.

THanks, that's what I needed. One more thing for the Christmas list.

Shit. I've got Me, which doesn't support it.

John has a thread going in Gen Soft for Acid. He's just started using it and I believe he is scoring the next Indiana Jones movie. *:D

There is also a couple links for free loops

Jim, you should place a new OS at the top of your Xmas list. Windows ME is the worst operating system I've ever used. Go with XP Pro, or Win 2K Pro if your system is too slow to handle XP.

It's second on the list, right after a new tripod.

Woops, I didn't mean Encore. I meant Audition. (I did that in 2 threads yesterday.)

No, I'm not kidding. When I bought my Dell, it was the shit. It was about a week after the P4 came out. I was thrilled about my 1.4 gig processor. ME was the only software I could get with it. Oh well, maybe I'll buy a whole new set up...

Ya hear that Santa?

I have a feeling that those sound loops are not the primarily APPLE collected works- but has been used over and over since days past.
I've heard it on another's musician's CD once. and then and right there, I said, I am going to compose my own scores now.
but it's not too bad when you need that quick job done.

Windows Me... wasn't that a film about a guy who used the windows OS for thirty days and the effect it had on his brain?

I think i ran a version of ACID on Me.
I 'came up' messing around on Acid, but since I went back to Macs I wish Soundtrack were more like it. I guess the next best thing is Apple Logic, but that costs five arms and thirteen legs. Oh well. The formerly Sonic Foundry line of audio software was so sweet...so versatile. In fact, it's the only reason I got virtual PC for my mac. But I haven't had the time to play with it yet. Also, I'm frozen about which OS to put on it.

Perhaps it was an older version.

Sony ACID Pro. Now in version 5.0.
