I’m planning on buying a camera with a budget of around € 1500 - 2400 for filming mostly skateboarding and short films. I’m planning on keeping this cam for a good while so I don’t want to buy the first one that comes, and a few months later find I improved in filming and there is not much settings to play with on the camera.

At the moment I’m looking at vx2000, vx2100 or pd170.
Reason for the choices: everybody who films skating buys a vx cam. Would there be much choices for manual settings / tweaking on a vx?

I used a pd170 once and it gave me a more professional feel about it, would it be much better than a vx? Would there be any other similar cameras at this price range?

Thanks

Vx2100 is THE camerea for low light shooting.
Thats why so many skaters use them.

I disagree with the above post. The PD170 is the best low light SD prosumer camcorder ever built. The VX2100 is the consumer version of the PD170.

VX2100 has plenty of settings to play with, also along with the
Century 0.3 Death fisheye Lens it's a really kickass camera, If you
want to see some raw footage from the vx2100 with death lens
PM me and i'll send you some.

I have to say that the VX1000 has better colours, and is half the price, what you lose is a LCD, a rec button on the handle and good low light performance.

hope that helps :)
