I know right below me is an older posting on projected budgets. But what were your final numbers? If you are so inclined to share.
B-Nice.
Final cost = 40 dollars. I said 20 before but forgot some items.
Price breakdown:
Tyvek suit = 7 dollars.

The wife: A Film? You want to produce a Film?!
Frank: Um... yeah wouldn´t that be cool?
The wife: I can´t belive you said that. We are totaly broke and you know it. But youuuuu want to produce a film. Yeah right!
Frank: I could make it pretty cheap if I plan it well and do almost everything myself.
The wife: Pretty cheap hu? I tell ya what: You can make that film if it you can make it for nothing.
Well what can I say, I had a zero budget and we did it for that.
To be honest - everybody brought everything in he can, like uniforms and props and what not. That helped a lot.
Also the locations where ether free (owned by friends) or we did it in gorillia style like the hospital floor and outside (shoot and run) without even asking for permission (knowing it will not be given ore expensive). The only money we spend was on some gasoline.

I love gorilla filmmaking! What I actually got done of mine had a scene filmmed on this property which was for sale across the street. One of the neighbors came outside and we hurried up and left.
I didn't spend anything on half of my entry.

Zero...zip...nada...$0.00
Wait, this being my first movie, I guess you have to figure in the following expenses:
1. DVX100b @ $2300.00
2. Tripod w/fluid head on ebay @ $224.00
3. 2nd tripod w/fluid head on ebay (didn't mean to win both...when does that ever happen?) @ $184.00
4. Kata Camera bag @ $212.00
5. Flowpod on ebay @ $225.00
6. Shoulder mount for camera on ebay @ $89.00
7. MiniDV tape (2) @ $9.98
...so I guess it cost me somewhere in the range of $3200 - $3300!
OUCH. I sure hope I get better at the filmmaking thing.
One thing for sure...eBay LOVES me!

2000$ for 4 days of gaffer and grip, no cost for lights, as this is my very first project, rental company agreed to give them for free if i only pay the lighting crew...
everything else - ~1000$.
alot...
It was really a nearly zero budget. I used my camera, so there's no need to rent it, i used a simple low-energy light bulb for the office interior. Everything else was natural light.
Location (the office) got for free since the i have a friend that work in this office and they allowed us to shoot into an empty cubicle. The stairs and the door scene is shot into a friend palace. Everything else is onto the streets around the city.
Actors where non-pro (and almost their first experience); i got a few filmmaker friends come to help us tecnically and they did also a small role - all for free.
So the only real cost was:
Food/beverage 20 €
Cardboard box and props 5 €
Fuel for my car <10 €

I spent virtually nothing on mine. Just the cost of normal supplies like Mini DV tapes and such. That and food for the actors.

My biggest cost was the stinkin' gasoline to drive down from near Yosemite National park to Fresno, Wonder Valley, Kings Canyon...Dang it... That stuff is so expensive.
Then my Subaru had an oxygen sensor bracket lose a bolt and then rip through my inboard right CV joint, drop axle grease on my muffler, smoke out the engine bay, and the motor stopped and now I can't get it to start, and don't know what the world is wrong... Poo.:furious3:
I'm back to my Suzuki Intruder... :(

I think we spent $5 at a thrift store for the costumes and $10 on tapes, and some $5 hot and ready pizzas. Bringing us in at a whopping $25. Since we had everything else and just did what we do and that is no to mega low budget. Of course in retrospect. We probably could have gotten away with using clothes we already had, and eaten PB & J's but oh well $25 is not a lot to shoot a 6 min film.

Well I had budgeted my film to come in just under $350,000 but unfortunately I didn't have time to shoot it. Angelina Jolie, Jessica Alba, Megan Fox, Christian Bale, Brad Pitt, and Will Smith weren't available either even though they said they liked the script so much they wanted to do it for free!

We spent about $100 on food for the cast.
The crew consisted of myself and two friends (lighting & booming) donating our time. $0
Actors donated their time. $0
Office location was allotted by a friend. $0
We own all our gear. $0 (well....$0 meaning no rental fees. Of course we paid a lot for our gear, HVX-200, ARRI light kit etc...)
I figured that since no one is mentioning the cost of their computer, NLE or plug-ins either......then I won't list the cost of our gear. (Production costs vs Post-Production costs are for another discussion i guess)
So yea, $100.

Red Shoes cost a fortune!!!! Since this was our first film we didn’t make a prior budget, but we kept a very detailed record so that next time we can.
Apart from still photography equipment (stands etc.) we have no equipment ourselves, so everything was rented. The rental company was very good to us and gave us a 40% discount. Living in Berlin, we don’t own a car (only 30% of Berlin residents have a car – public transport is very good and many people use a bicycle), but rent one when we need one.
The whole crew and the actors fortunately worked for free. We paid Luca (music composer) a symbolic fee, but we feel this sum should remain confidential. On the first day we provided lunch in our own home (near where we were shooting). On the second day the owners of our locations very kindly cooked for everybody. On the second day one of the extras came by car and provided transport for the actors (our car was full of equipment/props).
Despite this help, we spent around 2000 dollars. We attach a detailed list if anyone is interested.

Susanne, I wish you were out here helping us, as that budget breakdown was fabulous and shows that you are very organized and keep great records. We at Fat Monster are not very good at that stuff (but we plan to improve dramatically since we've now brought Bullis aboard to handle administration).
I am still working my way to your film and, thus, can't comment on it. However, I am really anticipating it and am pleased people are receiving it so well!

Fixed it. Distributor rotor bolt came out... At the same time the O2 sensor wire bracket came off and tore away my inboard CV joint boot... Strange. YAY! I'm back on the road again!

The DVX100 was used for sound recording. It was the cheapest available audio recorder.

AHHH! Vindicated. ... and I just checked your thread and see that you did say you used the RED. Interesting idea to use a DVX100 for sound. That's brilliant. What a great film this is in all respects.
