View Full Version : Thanks DVXuser (1000th post)

Hey all,
this is my 1000th post and I wanna thank you all! This is such a great community and I think this fest is a good example of this greatness. It really makes me feel like at home even though the people are from all over the world.

TimeFest is also a big step for DVXuser. There are so many international entries this time around. It is recognized in many other countries and results in cultural exchange and intercommunication among those nations, which is priceless!

I have always been interested in other cultures and traveled to many countries. I made youth exchanges to england and to the Philippines and I lived in Japan for half a year. And writing on this board is like a small exchange on an everyday basis :)

Like Brandon Rice said in his 14000th post thread, DVXuser changed my life. It showed me a future path that I really want to pursue. I learn so much and believe there is a job that I really want to do now :D

Thanks for all the users and the Mods to make this possible, thanks for putting so much work into these fests! And a special thank to our Festmaster! Thank you Larry!

I am looking forward to all the entries! I wish you the best, happy viewing! :)

Simon

Edited to add:
On demand of Aram I added a small 1000th post video, here you go:

Usually people make a short film introducing themselves for their 1000th post so get to it. :)

Ahh, damn you! I thought about that, but there were several reasons why I didn't do it :D Now you make me think about it again...

lol, i too agree that DVX is a great place to hang out...i find myself hitting F5 to refresh the page to see if anyone has responded to a comment I've made...sad really if you think about it...A semi overweight short guy sitting alone in his apartment, eating an Ice cream sandwich, occationally glancing up at this 42' HDTV at a program about catching crabs (awesome show btw) typing to other grown men doing the exact same thing...

ps wish i had the German accent! I can understand a small bit of German (took 2 1/2 years of it in high school....but that was 10 years ago)

Frank,

These characters all do look like the same person so they are presumably you. So, either:

1. You are very good at putting things together in Photoshop convincingly and quickly.
or
2. You have an amazing collection of pictures of yourself, in which case I am getting rapidly very curious about your lifestyle!!!

And here is Susanne in her one experience as an actress - playing Lucile in a theatrical representation of "The Bourgeois Gentleman" by Molière (in 1995, I had better add).

Congrats, Simon! Great spur of the moment video, by the way. I have been keeping close tabs on my post count as it is nearing the big 1K as well and I am working on deciding what to do for my post. Now that I see how big the demand is for an introduction video, I worry that I may be forced into that as you were. We will have to see. Congratulations again, and I look forward to seeing you around these boards for another 10,000 posts and beyond.

Simon is widely believed to be heir to the mantle of Jack Daniel Stanley. He cannot make a move without people considering its implications and its motivations. When you watch that video you immediately find yourself exclaiming, "My God, this man is golden with a camera." Simon may finally be the man who puts Cologne on the map for something besides its well known status as the first city in Germany with a tax for prostitution (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cologne).

Remember, Kölsch is the only language you can drink, Simon.

Seriously though, Simons a top guy.

Story

I had a shoot with a HVX when Simon was in Japan. Pretty important and long form. I was low on p2 cards to cover everything with other things going on. I knew from DVXuser Simon had just got some and one call to him and I had an extra 16gb card for the job.

Thanks man! Noel is a great guy too! But I can tell ya, I thought I must be insane to give away my brand new 1000$ P2 card to a literally stranger :D Well, the one time I met you before that day convinced me that you are cool and legit.

What has surprised me is how fast my post count goes up. After I posted my 1000th post in the Cafe a little over a week ago I already have 1,275 which means I've posted an average of 30 a day. Crazy! I am going to be watching for that 5K mark.

I guess because of the TimeFest films I have been on a lot and I just post post post. Although I don't feel like I am going any faster than before.

...Get yourself a girlfriend, that helps :D Or start filming... as I said before :D

I wish, Simon. That's all I ever try to do, the former of course. As far as filming, I am a writer and an actor who occasionally films his own stuff. Right now, I don't have anything to film and I do't exactly live in LA where jobs are easier to come by in this industry.

haha, girlfriends are fun, but over rated (can you tell I've had bad experiences?)

Go out and shoot something...anything. Do what I did with BNICE. Disaster of a short, but had fun doing it.
