Anyone here have more than 6 minutes of the actual movie it self and had to cut it down to the right time?

I had 2 minutes over.

I didn't even get all my footage, so no.

I had a couple of minutes extra. One good scene in particular had to hit the floor.
I'll definitely have it in the Director's Cut.

I'll work on it after taking all the reviews into account.

What I'm calling "the definitive cut" of our film runs at about 8 minutes.

My first cut was about 10 minutes. I had to cut a scene that changed the story a little bit. Kind of unfortunate but oh well.

edit - I accidentally voted "no" in the poll.

Drew, you are ruining our Democracy with your failure to be more careful.

Tim did a great job cutting this one. We do have more footage but it wasn't sacrificed to fit the six minute criterion. We are in position to have a full story in a six minute cut as well as having the opportunity to do an extended cut for the festival circuit if we choose to do so.

Same here. Had to take out one good scene that changed the story a tad.

Same here. Had to take out one good scene that changed the story a tad.Well, just to be clear... my scene didn't really change the story at all. It just helped flesh it out a tad. I really liked the acting dynamic in it. That's really why it's coming back.

Luckily I didn't lose anything that compromised what I initially wrote. I have run into that problem in the past though.

Cheers,

Mike

Tom, way to go with the Far Side reference.

I voted yes, I never actually had a cut that was over 6 min but I could have and I would have liked that. In the end I ended up cutting some lines so it was shortened even more now it's about 5 min and 56 secs with credits.

I loved the comic. I actually laughed out loud.

i had to shave a whole minute off the film it felt bad because me and my friend put a lot of work into and we want the whole cohesive piece be seen but sacrifices need to be made

I remember seeing that Far Side clip years ago and Drew's comment made me suddenly think of it...

Well it was perfect for that situation. You know, Tommy, I wish you wouldn't always one up me with fancy graphics and funnier remarks.

I had about 10 minutes.
And I hated it to cut it down. It speeds the tempo of the film up in a way some scenes barley work. But maybe I´m the only one who sees that.

When some friends saw it they say its fine.

We had a story that needed about 20 minutes, but actually our film runs at about 4 minutes. Because 10 minutes would've been nice, to include more setup and a few more important scenes, but 6 minutes was a 4 minute story with 2 minutes of bull****. so we cut it down to 4 to solve pacing issues. we're actually planning on reshooting ours with a higher budget, more professional cast, and with a length of 20+ minuts.

Our first, very rough, cut was about 11 minutes but some scenes were very long winded. Getting down to about 7 was fairly easy, the last minute tougher. However, the end result was a faster pace that maybe the film called for anyway. You will be the judges!!

Our script was a little over 6 pages and we ended up cutting a couple scenes from our timefest cut. We'll probably do another cut without the 6 min limitation.
