If I own a PowerPC G5 Quad Core desktop with 5 GB ram… will I have any issues transferring, viewing, editing with all the correct versions of software installed? As I unpack, I’ve grown concerned because the manuals say Mac Intel Core 2 Duo recommended.

I do not know first hand, but you should be fine. I believe as long as you've installed the plugins for FCP (assuming thats what your editing on) you should be good....Personally Id recommend upgrading as I do not believe the CS4 package (i have issues w/ the CS3) will run very well on Power PC processors.
I have a G5 in my office with 6gigs of ram and my Macbookpro w/ 2gigs of ram but is intel based runs the CS3 faster. The CS4 suite will become more of a problem w/ power pc processors...just FYI
