8 GB SxS card vs 16 GB SxS card

I’m moments away from buying the EX1. I’m not sure if I should go with 8 GB SxS cards or 16 GB cards?

I hear about problems not being able to load clips etc… I was wondering if I should go with the 8 GB cards so if there is an issue with missing clips, I would loose less. Or if you transfer the clips correctly, is there really no problem?

There are no problems mixing SandDisk and Sony cards are there?

What size do you prefer and why?

I'd say it that it is an issue of personal preferences and budget. Sandisk and Sony are identical so no issues in mixing the cards. You know, of course, it comes with 1 8gb card and the rebate sends you a 2nd 8gb card. I would personally go with 16 gb cards, but this is one of those decisions where you really can't go wrong. If you decide you want 16 gb cards, you can easily sell your 8 gb cards.

I have never had a problem loading clips. In fact, I've had more issues with P2 clips than EX clips. Any data is subject to corruption so I would not let that be a factor.

My simple advice is spend your budget, learn the camera and make beautiful pictures!

if you're not doing long takes, the 8gig cards are not too bad either, and as a bonus they're easily backed up to an extra DL dvd

that is why i still stayed with 8 gig cards.

If you'd like to have a 3-4 hrs of media get a hard drive (PHU-60k) it's out in July, ( I'm getting one as soon as it's out) of course you need some SxS, I like 8Gb, they faster to download, not the speed, but the size wise,
