I would have taken some of that, before they smashed it to bits.:kali:

I think that's one of the more painful things I've ever had to witness. Those poor white lenses... somebody save them!

Isn't there a better way to destroy them???? Without having to hamer them??? Maybe recycling some parts????

Thats the highest form of stupidity I've seen. Things can always be recycled.

It's not so strange how it looks like. It prevents them from giving away bad products, which could hurt their reputation. So whats easier and cheaper? Just destroy them or disassemble them by high skilled and high paid technicians to use the parts? It's not worth the hassle. Just building a new one is much cheaper.
Even car manufacturer do this. They got a brand new BMW which was only used for Software(!) testing? Yeah, lets put it into the junk press afterwards :D

I wish I could have gotten my hands on those camera's, I could have done tons of experiments on them or used them for parts. What a waste... :(
EDIT::
Interesting questions: if you was given the job of hammering that gear, could you do it? I don't think I could (does that make me weird?)

The reason I said its stupidity is because I live up here in the Seattle area and boeing is the dumbest company ever and I just get tired of see good things destroyed. They have been closing down shop after shop and just destroying everything. They ground up there main TV studio that had a 60 foot screen and a stage with a multimillion dollar rail system and the control room had a bunch of digital Betacam decks and digital decks and on and on and on and the demolition contractor didn't pull anything. The stadium chairs were so nice and the equipment was worth millions and they just ground it all up like all of the other buildings they tore down. How can anybody be so frigin stupid. I mean they had the best of everything, pedestals, cranes, monitors galore, HD, SD, Pal they had it. I just think that anybody that is this stupid needs to be slapped. One day and a truck and I could have pulled millions out of this place so I'm just a little touchy with this kind of thing.

I've had a couple friends who have worked there, but on their planes. Heh... you should see the stupid stuff they do to the planes we all fly in! Let's just say, I won't be flying in a 787 for quite a long time. :lipsrseal
