I just picked up the book, "Scott Kelby's 7 Point System for Adobe Photoshop CS3" (http://www.amazon.com/Kelbys-7-Point-System-Photoshop-Voices/dp/0321501926/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1212792742&sr=1-2)

What a fantastic resource. Where most PS books are broken into sections based on technique/tool, this is broken into chapters by image. He takes 21 images and walks you step by step through the process of taking a mediocre image and making it a fantastic image.

And the beauty of the system in the book, is that in every case, it follows a seven step system ... using seven specific tools within Photoshop, to achieve the results. Some photos, obviously, are better than others and don't require all seven steps, but none of them require more than the seven.

I have to confess I was rather skeptical when I first read the synopsis of the book, but having skimmed through it a couple times now I have to say I am very impressed.

He's not showing anything "new", he's using the same tools/techniques that all the books, websites, and tutorials say to use. But instead of showing a photo that's mostly corrected and then showing how to apply one technique to get it the rest of the way, he takes a fully uncorrected image and takes it all the way through the steps to a stellar image.

Check it out, I think you'll be impressed.
