Hi all, I have decided to sell my beloved Steadicam Flyer. This is the Flyer with the black (latest) arm and the whole kit is in immaculate condition.
Included in the sale is the C2-SM4080 -120WH Battery package, in brand new condition, with a retail of $900.
http://www.batteries4broadcast.com/combo_order_sm.htm
Everything is in perfect condition as you can see from the photos below. The whole kit comes in a super strong case to keep everything safe.
Please feel free to ask any questions. I prefer the buyer to pickup from me because it weighs a lot and postage would be expensive. I will post at cost but be prepared for a bill over £100 UK and more to europe.
Price is £3500 which includes everything, from extra screws, video, manual, batteries and charger, and if you come and pick it up, I will show you how it all goes together and have you up and running in no time. ( though of course it takes a lot of practice!)
Currently this flyer costs £5756 inc VAT (£4899 +VAT)in the UK, so you make a considerable saving on an as new Flyer, plus get the expensive battery pack thrown in.
Thanks
Steve Shovlar
EDIT on 1/6/08. Had several people contact me and very interested in buying it but I am yet to sell it, so I am reducing the price to £3400 or make me an offer very close to that figure!

Hi Ted, yes it's a beauty. Very cheap compared to what these cost in the UK, and they don't come up very often either.
Pretty sure if someone in the UK is looking for one they will take my arm off when they snap this up.

what is the max weight for your flyer, would it fly an SR3, i ask because tiffen have various pics of the flyer with cams from the HVx200 to the arri 235, and the weight difference is quite drastic. thanks.

It says in the literature it supports cameras up to 15 pounds. I have flown it with a sony pmw-ex1 with Letus Extreme, 17-35mm Nikon lens all on a Zacuto rail system with base plate, so I would imagine it wouldn't have any problem.

HI Bob you were only an hour away. Yes miserable weather!
I have done a bit of research and the Flyer can operate perfectly up to 15 pounds ( 6.8 Kilos)

So I doubt you would have any problems at all.
Thanks

i've heard some people say that the flyer arm can handle more weight than the 15 lb limit and that it's more about the sled. since you can't extend the post and the gimbal only moves up so far, at some point past 15 lbs of camera the sled becomes top heavy and doesn't fly right. they say you can go a little over 15lbs if you add weight to the bottom of the sled. probably not recommended but possible maybe...

Very much possible. You are right the arm can only go so high before the balancing becomes impossible. I have two large batteries at the bottom for weight as well as the monitor, and so far have never got close to the maximum weight. In fact you can see in the photos the highest I have had the arm, and it can go a fair bit further.

That's true, the Flyer can handle over 15lbs. Actually the Flyer perform better on the heavier side... A some operators actually like to add a steal "donut" to max it out...

True enough it works better with a bit more weight on it. Just the EX1 on its own is very light. When I fly it with the EX1, LEX, 80-200mm Nikon plus rails, mattebox and base plate it flies very easily and extremely smoothly.
Its still available. If any of you are thinking about it don't leave it an hour too long to make your mind up. You will be gutted to miss out.:violin:
You know you really want it. Message me and come and get it from me this weekend. And don't forget the cash!:D

i see a 220v plug for the charger. is it 110v/220v switchable or would a transformer be required for 110v use?

The charger and Flyer all come originally from the USA, and I have just taken a look and it is AC 90-240, so no problems there.

Sold and thanks for all the interest.
Reason for selling is I am not using it enough and can put the money to better use with a second camera. Didn't want to sell but I am practicle enough to know where to put my money gear wise.
