Interesting thread! And good looking pics too. Focus seems to be tack sharp - my p&s usually gives me soft landscapes. How do you do that?

hey Jeff,

I dont know as it was my first digital camera  I just use the "landscape" auto present that is on the camera.

In post, I just use the Mac preview software to apply some sharpening, take the colors out and adjust "exposure, brightness and contrast".

I dig the Devil's Tower pics. Looks cool.

Here are some from my Amelia Island trip last summer. They are taken with my very old Sony 3MP P&S.

A few I've posted in the past taken with my Sony H2.

This is a panoramic made from 4 photos at Moro Rock:

This was taken from the passenger side front seat of a van at 65mph, into the outside rearview mirror on the way to Niagara Falls.

hmmm... not sure what I did wrong with the last one in sizing.

I deleted it until I get it figured out ...

Got it. It's the Sequoia National Park one.

Well, what does it matter if the original file is 2, 4, 8 or 16 MPx, if the shots shown here are about 0.5 MPx???

A decent point and shoot does work just fine, to a certain extent. Some 5 MPx Canon G5 shots I have taken have been printed on a magazine full spread, but any pro can see that the resolution is not quite good enough, the average reader does not notice or complain. On the other hand G7 with 10 MPx looks just fine on a full spread. Still, comparing G7 and G9 at 10 and 12 MPx to FF 12 MPx Canon 5D is an eye opener: 5D totally blows away the compacts even though the pixel count is the same.

Maybe I'll post some samples later on.

Awesome photo, very interesting. Maybe bring up the highlights and it's a 10.
