Hey Guys,
I am new to the FORUM and I just wanted to get your opinion on something. I am considering two cameras, either the DVX100A of the DVC30,both by PANASONIC. I hear that both are great cameras, but I notice an obvious price difference and feature difference between the two models. I don't know if I really posted this in the correct area, but I wanted to get some feedback. I have really seen some amazing stuff on this forum and hope to be a part of it all real soon.

Thanks,
Patrick

The DVX100a Shoots True 24p Witch Makes it look like Film And They Both I Believe Have Cine-Gamma. Go With The Dvx100a. Very Nice Camera :)

I'd say go with the DVX100.

XLR inputs are standard, plus the camera has a bit more of a weight to it compared to the DVC30. Also works really well with Avid Xpress Pro. (if this is the same Patrick who frequents the Avid forums)

One thing to keep in mind is that you'll need a Mojo to cut the 23.976 projects to tape.

Thanks guys,

I really want to get the DVX100A, but it is so expensive.
Can anyone suggest a good Panasonic dealer that has good prices?

Thanks,

Patrick

Don't want to be a party pooper, but this topic was already discussed in the Hardware section last week. Check it out.

I was looking at the DVC30 as well. But decided to buy a used DVX100 for $2000. Best decision of my life. Good luck!

Do NOT settle for something less than what you actually want, even if it takes you longer to get it.

Thanks.
It seems as though B&H is one of the top places to purchase cameras or anything else for that matter. Is it necessary to get the 2 year or even 4 year extended warranty?

my dad got 4 because my bro tends to not take care of things. so go with 4 because its longer and if anything were to happen over 4 instead of two your safe :)

Try Rush at EVS first. You will get a DVXuser discount and he has a reputation of treating the folks here very well. :)

I believe he is also an excellent tango dancer but that is just word of mouth. ;)

The jury is still out on my Tango skills... ;D

I just want to let you know Patrick, that if you like, you can write to me, and I would be happy to provide you with the DVXuser discount, which is hundreds less than the B&H price. We also match prices with B&H on most other products, and many times beat their prices.
