Please advice me to choose one phantom microphone XLR for HVX200 camera.
What do you think about this micro : Panasonic AG-MC200G

Hi Cooki:

The stock Panny mic is pretty medicore, although using any mic on camera results in pretty mediocre sound. The Audio Technica AT875r is designed as an on camera mic also and sounds better and sells for less (at least over here, not sure about France?).

Take a listen. http://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/right_mic_brockett.html

Your article is very rich, clear. My budget is about 400 dollars, so I plan to choose the AT875 as you suggested me. It works with Phantom Power Sully 48V XLR on HVX200 ?
Best regards

Hi Cooki:

Yes, the AT875r works with the phantom power on the HVX and the EX-1. I have th AT875r and used it to shoot an acoustic jam session with the mic on camera and it worked very well.

Dan, can you also use that as a handheld interview mic?

Hi David:

I did not try that in my tests, but since it was designed as an on-camera mic and it did pretty well in the mic noise handling test on a boom pole, it might work. I would typically recommend an EV RE-50 for handheld applications. Condensers aren't known as great hand held but you could always try it.
