Thanks. He was kinda  because the liquid latex was on his face for about 3 hours before we actually shot that scene. And when we finally shot it, it only took 30 minutes to film. Also he said it was slightly burning around hour 1.

Thats one thing we had to deal with in this short. Many actors coming in for 3+ hours of makeup and then only having about 10 seconds of screen time.

Cool short, I liked the lighting you used in the beginning (all of the colors). Did you use Gels? It gave it a sorta Robert Richardson vibe...

This was eerie and creepy. I love the stuff you did with the faces. Just a really great ambitious idea.

The next time you might also look at doing something like that with a composite. When it's a fixed shot, it can be pretty easy to do. Jack has gotten good enough at that stuff to add in photo-realistiic elements and blend them with the footage really well.

I like how you told the story and how well the actor played the stuff when he was in the bed. I keep seeing this in some youngin's films this fest, just good handling of actors.

Giving a second watch and will be back later.

Yup, very creepy at times. I liked it!
As Mark mentioned, some effects work on the faces could have really sold it.

Still good nonetheless. Lighting was also cool.

Nice work.

Thanks guys!

Yeah I really wanted to go through frame by frame in something like photoshop and really blend the faces but time didn't permit. The no face guy in the hallway turned out the best as far as makeup goes, which sucks because he had hardly any screen time. Our makeup artist wasn't here on the day we shot the living room scene so I had to step in.

hazelwould - Thanks! In the hallway we had a bunch of different gels on the lights in each room, I don't remember what combinations we used on each.

Creepy is the word. Good job shooting this & the music really added to the feel. Loved the 'faceless guys' (Pink Floyd). Really nice job in MHO!

Spoilers----
* I felt the pace was a little slow
* That first match has to be the longest burning match of all times...where can I get some of those?

Excellent job on this one!

yeah that match went on for a little too long. It burned even longer before we cut it down to fit in the 6 minutes.

Thanks for the comments guys!

Ha, no kidding on the match. That REALLY bothered me, I counted three different matches in that scene. I think that whole sequence was way too long. But I really dug the lighting overall, very moody, and you know how to compose a shot. When he wakes up, in the bed, his head movements are too jerky for my taste - "see me, I'm moving up-down-left-right, now you know I'm not feeling well" - but the last shot, the look on his face is SO WELL DONE. And the music! I can still hear it, great choice.

I liked this! Definitely looks professional.

Thanks very much. Were you talking about the shot right before he
leaves the hospital or the one when he wakes up in the bed with his mask on?

As for the music, all thanks go to Luca for creating us a beautiful score.

Thanks for the comments.

This looked awesome. Sounded great too. The acting from the lead and the other guy in the car was very good.

Honestly, I might be dumb, but I don't think I really got it. When you get a chance, I'd love an in-depth explanation of the film.

I am not an expert for sound, but I think (heard) there was a good sound - i.g. in the dark scene I could hear very well the footsteps. I watched this film with interests, but I am not sure if I understood really the story. I thought that the main character was a soldier, but only because I saw at the end the frase from Curt Weldon. Then I thought he is in the psychiatry and under artificial coma, because he knows something , i.g. a secret of a war where he was, what is better that it reminds this secret. When he is in the coma, he has the dream of the war and perhaps also of this secret. Did I understand the right story?

Wow. GREAT great GREAT stuff!!! I wish you could take a couple FX guys and make this same movie with just a bit more FX work. SO sweet in terms of design and mood. Music and sound design were awesome. You have a dark vision here that is amazing. I really compliment you for stretching yourself with this production.

Wow!! Really love what you guys did here. I didn't really understand what was going on, but I'm just a sucker for post-apocalyptal stuff. Good sound design and a really great score. Good acting by your lead. GOod creative cinematography.

Good job all round guys. It did take a while for me to catch onto the story but there are good ideas underlying it. Lighting and cinematography were great and the right mood was definitely there. Luca did an exceptional job on the music and sound design.

This was a pretty ambitious project. For the most part, I think you pulled it off. I'd have liked to seen more age appropriate actors OR some kind of explanation explaining that only the young survived. The actor doing the explanation to your lead was particularly young...that might have been a good place to explain about the youth. Just an idea.

The faceless masks didn't do it for me. I like the idea you were trying to get across but that was a place for some CG. There are a lot of people on the boards that probably would have been happy to help out with that.

The editing could have been tightened up a bit...I didn't need quite as much total darkness to get the idea across. Also your lead's voice was muffled so much behind the gas mask that I could barely understand what he was saying.

On the whole, however, I think you pulled it off. I enjoyed the story and loved the way you had it playing out in his head. Good job.

Great short and cool post-apocalyptic feel. The idea of the faceless people was a cool idea.

Tweaks here and there though, for instance, on the masks put a bit more effort to blend them to the skin.

Nice Job and keep it up, I enjoyed it.

Hey,

Just caught the flick. I liked it. The cinematography was great. I like the feel/mood you set us. Your use of lighting to convey that was really good. Loved it.

The scenes you did in the dark are really nice. Spot lighting him outside worked brilliantly for you. Agree with the match (sorry).

The sound design was spectacular. Good, clear, crisp audio. Love it. Music also rocked. Very very nice.

Some of the lack of production value leaked out in the lighter scenes for me (hallway, hospital, living room). They all seemed to be in someone's house. Your use of tight shots was really working well for you.

When the faceless guys "knock him out" and he is in the dark, I loved it. And then I realized he was in a car (passenger side visor mirror directions, door opening and slamming, etc.) That pulled me right out. I think it would have worked better for you for it to just be somewhere and not establish it. The look worked but the things I mentioned pulled me out.

I liked the premise you were going for here and I thought you were almost there on the look/production value. I don't think the story comes out in the end. If we need a title card to tell us what is happening I think it's a bit of a cheat. But it's cool, it works. What doesn't work for me is that we don't know what is going on with this character. Sure, he's trapped in the trauma in his mind. But it is an instituional trauma? Like is someone keeping him there or is the just stuck there? The ending makes it seem like when he gets pulled out he is put back into it. Is that what you mean by denying the soldiers a chance to tell the truth? If so I think it remains, at least in the story telling aspect, ambiguous.

Overall great flick. I enjoyed it and think it's just a step away from being great. Nice work. Can't wait to see more.

Very nice movie. I like the lighting when the guy was shooting even though there was some noise with the scene with the match. The story is solid. The acting is good. You did a good job! Congrats!

I think I’m gonna have to re-watch this film in the dark. I think I missed a lot the first pass. I’m not sure a guy in a gas mask wearing paintball armor is too awfully terrifying. However; I am able to see or at least kind of understand your vision for this movie.

I did however; enjoy the music and most of the production values. A little more time/money would really kick this film into another level.

Congrats on entering the fest.

I am not quite sure I got the story. At first I thought the low light was an issue but later realized you used it to set mood which worked. I am sure most has already been said. Good luck!

great job!

As far as criticisms go, there's nothing I can add that hasn't already been said. Although I disagree with those who didn't dig the faceless make-up. It worked for me, I loved it.

Also, kudos to your sound/audio/score person. excellent job!

I'm almost positive I want to do some more effects work on the faces now after the fest.

Are there any effects masters on here that would be willing to help out? You would be credited. And loved forever.

I can't really do a whole lot myself because my computer isn't fast enough to edit HD. I edited this all at school and now its summer.
