Ok, I've been asked to do some product shots for a catalog. The products being shot are of a wide range, from chocolates, to bath and body products, to tins, to wrapping paper...
I am wondering what I realistically need (aside from years of experience) to make this happen.
Thanks.

a Lighting tent, and off camera lighting setup. Maybe Macro lens or closeup adapter.

I was recently pointed to the Strobist blog which has some great lighting examples that might help you set up your environment to get the best shots.

Yeah strobist rules. Seems like they did something on product shots a while ago.

Yeah, they have a cool DIY tent that you make out of a cardboard box. They very color and use cheap or used tile or counter top from the Home Depot as a base for that nice shiny reflective surface. That plus a few speedlights and you'll be in business.

A good swing/tilt 4 x 5 camera would be a great item to have

Steve Kaeser's store on ebay has some good tents for sale at a reasonable price. I have use some of the gear he sells and its work out well.
