Hi guys.

where is the current best place to buy an HVX200 from an authorized Panasonic dealer? B&H has it for $5100 + $400 rebate + free 16 gig card. is it possible to find it cheaper?

Also when is the HVX100A coming out and how much will it cost?
I know the first version has some bad low light shooting issues and i need to shoot some night scenes.

thanks

The HVX200a is already out. BH has it for $5199 with P2 card.

is the extra $500 worth it for the A model?

More light sensitivity, less noise, and better color rendition. I'd say so.

You bet it's worth the $500. The #1 frustration with the camera for me has been it's low light problems. Even with a decent lighting package, it's still a challenge to get good exposure with most night scenes.

Best Place? Give Tommy Mack a call at EVS - Express Video Supply, Inc (800-238-8480) - Don't go by the website's price.. you gotta call and let him know that you're a DVXUser Member and he'll take care or the rest.

High Five!

Just got my hvx200a from Spec-Comm. These guys rock!
Talked to EVS too and they impressed me equally good. I certainly recommend them both to anyone in the market for a new 200A.
Thank you guys at Spec-Comm!

i got my 200a from spec-comm the week they came out. they knock off 2% if you pay with certified check, and shipping is free. i went with them over b&h, upgraded a few minor things (like a nicer protective filter), and still paid a little less than i would have at b&h. not to mention andrew is always on the boards here. that's customer service that's hard to come by.

i didn't have the original hvx200 by the way, but based on the hvx200 vs hvx200a low light tests, it's not even a question that the 200a is worth the upgrade.

I am a little hesitant about recommending EVS. My experience with them was not great. They shipped me the wrong item and really didn't seemed interested in resolving the problem. Although the wrong item wasn't a 5K camera, in the end it cost me a $100. I should have stayed with B &H!

Abel Cinetech sold me the 200A for $5K even. It came with a 16GB P2 card and Barry Green's book. I had it shipped out of state and there was no tax, of course.

So looks like Spec-comm or Abel cine are the best 2 options for the HVX right now...

Doing research for a friend...

Several related questions:

1. Raylight. Where's the best place to get it? (will be using Vegas, so have to get it apparently)
2. External monitor. Again, what's the best option; other threads said I'll need one in order to find focus using the HVX.
3. What hard drive are you people using to record footage in real-time? (and do you have a cart behind you for all this stuff one apparently needs just to record with the HVX? Seriously, how do you do any moving shots???)
4. Best place for professional tripod?

I've been out of the game for a year or so, living off my DVX just fine, but a friend is getting an HVX very soon, so I figured the experts here would be the best place to find this stuff out w/o me spending days of researching to see where things are nowadays.

THANKS!

1.) DVFILM.COM
2.) A Marshall 7" HD monitor
3.) where did you ever hear that there's all this crap to lug around? Use P2 cards and if you don't want them use a Firestore...mounts on or under camera.
4.) Bhphotovideo.com

Hey, thanks for the quick response. Normally I'd do the research, but simply can't right now...and my friend needs the equipment quickly!

Ordered the camera and raylite. A few more questions though...

Firestore; I'm looking here:
http://www.abelcine.com/store/product.php?productid=1000023

It looks like it's rechargable as is; don't have to order extra stuff. Is this a good place to order it?

Monitor; the Marshall is very pricey...and apparently, one also has to order a battery, and a charger? (another $500???) My god, 2K just to get focus. Wow.

Again, if you know of a cheaper/better place, PLEASE let me know ASAP! My friend has $$$ to spare, but I still want to give him the best options.

THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR RESCUE INFORMATION!!!
