I had a shoot today 2 hours from town. We get to the location and I power camera up and press eject to load tape and it doesn't work. Nothing. Menu doesn't work and none of the user buttons work, but the bars and shutter buttons do work. So I go to turn power off and I turn ON/OFF button to off, but the camera does not power down. Really wigging out about now. So I detach the battery to reset camera. Still everything is the same. We got another camera but completely scrapped the morning. Has anything like this ever happened to anyone else? I purchased exactly 1 year and a week ago. Of course.
I did power it up when we got back tonight, and it seems to work fine tonight. I really don't have a lot of confidence in it though.

I had a similar event. I just sent it in for repair to see what they say.

Thanks Barry, is our experience the first of it's type that you know of?? If possible, let me know what they find out. I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do, my May is fairly booked and am concerned about turn around time is from the factory.
Thanks

My suggestion is to call the service center on Monday and see when they can work your camera in. In some cases where the repair will take a longer time, I know that they have a loaner. Also if you send it in overnight, they will send it out overnight.
Good Luck,

Thanks Jan, I sent it in Friday and will check on it Monday. I spoke with Frank and he thought it may be as little as a week. Hope so. Thanks for the loaner info. I will pursue it if needed.

Its been a few months since my problem, and not sure if it is exactly what you are experiencing, but mine was a loose wire harness if I remember correctly, which was replaced and returned within 3 days. No problems since. Good luck

thank you very much jeff. i sent my camera for repair and i'm just waiting for the results of the initial diagnosis. they actually mentioned something about the wires and stuff but the worst case scenario is that it's got some problems with the board. thanks again.
