I just noticed while messing around with my settings that you can't change the frame rate in 1080 24/pa?
It only shoots in 24 fps?
is 720 the only setting that lets you shoot in variable frame rates.
So it says default in the frame rate menu. So if I left it on video cam even though I was shooting in 1080i 24/pa would it still shot like a film camera or do I need to change to film cam also?
quick answer would be awesome...
thanks a lot

No variable frame rates in 1080, only 720pN.
Yes that is the correct way to get focus. I also use the focus read out on my camera all the time. You get very good at learning to judge distances.

But the focus read-out in the v/f bears only a cursary resemblance to the real distance as measured with a tape, even dof doesn't cover the error especially at large image scale

read the manual and barry's book from front to back. get his hvx dvd bootcamp bundle also. i knew next to nothing about actually using the camera 2 weeks ago (when i got my 200a). i've done all 3, and i feel like i've really equipped myself to shoot. doing these 3 things will be invaluable to you.

you don't have to be in native mode, just 720p.
Also, you can change the focus readout to different units, depending on what you lke - pg. 92 in the manual.

yea i said pn because for new users is the easiest way to shoot offspeed without having to do a post conversion to play it back. But you are correct.

Last i read the read-out is accurate enough for most run and gun work, which is when i use it. It will never compare to zooming in and pulling focus however (which for me is a luxury a lot of the time)
