My wife and I are new to videography and need some suggestions on the best introductory books to the subject, without specificity to a certain camera. I've already a long list in Amazon on various subjects I want to learn—cinematography, editing, lighting, etc. What I'm not finding are any relatively new *reviewed* books introducing the basic concepts of current video production. There are formats within formats, and codecs aplenty, and compression to account for, and, well, everything. I don't even care if it's a book, necessarily. I'd like the in-the-field portability of a book, but even a website tutorial or DVD-based tutorial would be fine. Just something that gives a solid understanding of the fundamentals.
Thanks in advance.
