This new camera looks great!

It shoots Full 1080 HD and has a 24p Mode... And, for a fraction of what I paid for my 100b...
I currently own the DVX100b.

But, I have a feeling it looks too good to be true...

It's essentially, as near as I can tell, an AVC-HD based flash-memory version of the Canon HV20/30. Now, as you'll find in the HV20 forum here, a lot of people are doing some impressive work with the HV20, but (as these consumer cams) there is a noted lack of manual controls (which, IMO, is where the "too good to be true" comes in). Also, AVC-HD is apparently a bearcat to edit natively, all but requiring the use of an intermediate codec to edit unless you have a truly sick computer. :) There was a brief discussion (http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=120742&highlight=canon+flash) about these earlier this year, but I haven't seen anything else on them since.

Lake Films dude, I would agree with the captain and furthermore don't forget that this camera is half the price of the new HV30 which tells me that even though it has a 12x optical zoom and a larger CMOS sensor what is going to work against these features is the 17Mbit AVCHD codec. I've had to edit AVCHD native files given to me by clients and I gotta say it's a lot more processor intensive than HDV or DV.

I was originally looking at the HG10 (this is the one that records AVCHD to internal HDD) as a stunt double for my XH-A1 but the AVCHD codec pales in comparison to HDV and decided to go with the HV30 instead.

If you have the cash and you are doing serious work go with the HV30 and you won't be disappointed.
